Another example of the creator revolution happening in animation.
TALON began with Heather Parra, an idea about dinosaurs, and the determination to get that idea made. No studio. No network. No traditional greenlight.
Today, the pilot has more than 1.7 million views, and Cartoon Brew is telling its story.
Jennifer Pelphrey and I are proud to have helped Heather build the team and bring TALON to the screen. There’s still a long road ahead, but projects like this are a reminder that creators have more ways than ever to find their audience.
Thanks to Jamie Lang and Cartoon Brew for the terrific piece.

I’ve watched the way we make things change over and over again.

New tools. New platforms. New pipelines. New ways of reaching an audience.

It’s easy to get attached to the process we know.

But the process was never the point.

The idea was.

I used to think experience meant having more answers.

Now I think it means getting more comfortable not having them.

Things change. People surprise you. Ideas take you places you didn’t expect.

There’s always something left to learn.

The longer I’ve been in this business, the more I’ve had to remind myself of this.

Experience teaches you what worked before. It gives you instincts. It gives you perspective.

But it can also make you believe you know what comes next.

I don’t.

And I think that’s what keeps it interesting.

Collaboration matters. Listening matters.

But if every creative decision has to make everyone comfortable, you can end up sanding away the very thing that made the idea interesting.

Sometimes a little disagreement is a good sign.

Data matters. Budgets matter. Research matters.

But at some point, every great creative decision requires a leap.

You can analyze what worked yesterday.

Predicting what people will love tomorrow is something else entirely.

The longer I do this, the less interested I am in having all the answers.

The interesting stuff usually starts with a question.

Keep asking.

Not everything works.

The pitch that goes nowhere. The idea you abandon. The version you throw away and start over.

None of it is wasted.

It’s how you get to the work that does.

Tim Curry never needed to raise his voice to make you uneasy.
As Auntie Whispers in Over the Garden Wall, he delivered a performance that was unmistakably Tim Curry—gentle, mysterious, and deeply unsettling. Whether hidden behind the face of an old woman or revealed in her monstrous form, he brought humanity to a character you could never quite understand... or forget.
Rest in peace, Tim. Thank you for giving animation one more unforgettable performance. taken in Over The Garden Wall by @bfredmuggs
