I’ve watched the way we make things change over and over again.

New tools. New platforms. New pipelines. New ways of reaching an audience.

It’s easy to get attached to the process we know.

But the process was never the point.

The idea was.

A big thank you to everyone at PFCAT and to all who came out for my fireside chat in Portland.

We covered a lot of ground, but I keep coming back to one idea: I believe we’re entering one of the most disruptive and potentially empowering periods our industry has ever seen.

The tools are changing. The barriers are coming down. The relationship between creators and audiences is being rewritten.

There are plenty of reasons to be uncertain about what comes next. But I’m optimistic about the possibilities, especially for creators willing to embrace change, experiment, and find new ways to tell great stories.

The future of this industry isn’t already written.

We get to help write it.

Thank you, PFCAT, for giving me the opportunity to be part of the conversation.

I used to think experience meant having more answers.

Now I think it means getting more comfortable not having them.

Things change. People surprise you. Ideas take you places you didn’t expect.

There’s always something left to learn.

The longer I’ve been in this business, the more I’ve had to remind myself of this.

Experience teaches you what worked before. It gives you instincts. It gives you perspective.

But it can also make you believe you know what comes next.

I don’t.

And I think that’s what keeps it interesting.

Collaboration matters. Listening matters.

But if every creative decision has to make everyone comfortable, you can end up sanding away the very thing that made the idea interesting.

Sometimes a little disagreement is a good sign.
