I was 13 when CBS aired Céline’s opening night in Vegas of A New Day… in March 2003.

We didn’t have cable, and our TV reception involved this giant antenna outside that had to be turned in exactly the right direction … and basically required the wind to cooperate for anything to show up. @bprice151 can attest to this!! 😂

So that night, I made my own little antenna out of a coat hanger, attached it to the tiny TV in my bedroom, popped in a VHS tape, and recorded the show.

I watched that tape every. single. day. after school for months.

I would run around my little bedroom doing the choreography along with Céline. I knew every little flick of her hand, every turn of her head, every movement. I was completely mesmerized by her.

I remember people calling it “Cirque de Céline,” and honestly, it was completely accurate. It was this huge, strange, beautiful world Franco Dragone had built around her. Franco came from Cirque du Soleil, and the whole thing felt less like a concert and more like stepping into some giant dream. I had never seen anything like it and was completely obsessed!!

Then when I was 14 another friend’s mom took us to Las Vegas to see the show for real! (Laura @squirrelvibesonly )
We had seats way up in the top section and had even brought binoculars because this was obviously long before you could just zoom in with your phone. 😂

Before the show started, an usher came over and asked if we were a party of three. We said yes, and she asked which one of us was the big Céline fan.

Obviously, that was me.
She told us to grab our things and follow her. (Cont in comments) #celinedion by @bhellmeister
