I don’t sell golf tours, but I do love showing off Irish golf... (Part 5)

Next up is @thekclubgolf in Co. Kildare.

When people think of golf in Ireland, particularly visitors coming from overseas, it’s usually the big links courses that get all the attention... and understandably so! But we’ve got some incredible parkland golf here too, and The K Club is probably one of the first names that comes to mind.

Between the Ryder Cup in 2006 and Rory’s now-iconic moments in 2016 and 2025, The K Club has given Irish golf fans some class memories over the years.

I think there’s something really cool about getting to play courses you’ve watched on television. It almost feels like you know the course before you have ever even stood on the first tee.

If you squint, what do you see?

This one started as a bit of an experiment. I was gathering information for a much bigger project and had a list of golf courses across Ireland, along with their locations.

I wondered what it would look like if I placed every club’s name exactly where it sits. No map, no borders, just the names.

The island drew itself.

404 courses. Carne out on its own on the edge of Mayo. Dublin so packed you can’t read a word of it.

I thought it was a cool visual, so I shared it on here. A number people have since got in touch asking if they could buy one.

So, something I never intended to sell has ended up becoming a new BHÍOS print.

I don’t sell golf tours, but I do love showing off Irish golf… (Part 4)

We’re staying in Donegal for this one, and looking at these photographs, I think you’ll understand why! Next up is @narinportnoolinks in Co. Donegal.

I’ve yet to make it to Narin and Portnoo myself, but it’s been on my list for a long time. It looks absolutely spectacular, and everyone I’ve spoken to who’s played it has had nothing but praise for the place.

The course went through a major redesign a few years ago, and looking at the land they had to work with, it’s hard to imagine a much better starting point. Proper links land!

Is Donegal slowly becoming one of the best golfing counties in Ireland?

“Either side of the Atlantic.”

A recent commissioned piece for an American golfer, built around twelve courses in Ireland and twelve in America.

@ballybuniongolfclub had been a particularly special part of his trip to Ireland, so we used this incredible photograph of the 11th by @lowcut_rf. Ballybunion also kindly gave us permission to include their crest on this one-off piece, which I think was the cherry on top!

Some courses he’s already played, and a few more that will give him a reason to come back. 🇮🇪🇺🇸 by @bhiosgolf

This is exactly the sort of piece I love working on.

A group travelling with @lyonslinks had just finished a golf trip around Scotland, playing six courses along the way. Like most groups lucky enough to make it to St Andrews, they got the obligatory photo together on the Swilcan Bridge on 18.

Rather than leave that photo sitting in a camera roll somewhere, Lyons Links asked us to turn it into something that marked the trip properly.

We built the piece around the group photo, then added each of the six courses they played, along with the date they played them. by @bhiosgolf

Next up is @oldheadgolflinks in Kinsale, Co. Cork.

I’m not really sure what needs to be said about this place. On one hand, the photos speak for themselves, but at the same time, we all know photos never really do a place justice. Without trying to sound too cringey, it’s one of those places you really have to experience to believe.

When it comes to the rankings, Old Head can sometimes be overlooked, but if you asked me to bring somebody to a golf course that would absolutely WOW them, this would be right at the top of my list.

It also has one of my favourite logos in Irish golf. It’s tied to the location and has a nice bit of history behind it. For anybody interested in that side of things, look up the Stone of Accord.

Since we started doing these more artistic-style pieces, we’ve been getting a lot more requests to create custom gifts around specific moments… and this was a pretty nice one to mark.

A customer reached out after a special trip to the Old Course. His friend was having the round of his life and, after bogeying 15, 16 and 17, he holed a 15-footer on the 18th green to shoot 72.

We used a screenshot of the exact moment the ball dropped as the main feature of the piece, accompanied by his scorecard from the day.

I doubt there was any danger of him forgetting the round, but this gives him something tangible to remember it by. by @bhiosgolf

@dooksgolflinks is one of those must-play courses in the south west. It doesn’t get quite as much love in the rankings as some of its neighbours, but in terms of scenery and the overall experience, it’s right up there with the best of them.

It also has one of the most distinctive logos in Irish golf, so if you’re lucky enough to play it, be sure to pick up a few bits in the pro shop.
