I seldom post much about my personal life lately, but as my birthday was quickly approaching as another “business day”, I realized that’s a deeper pattern that has hurt me more than benefitted me. I never take time to celebrate. The little wins or the big wins. And I often feel an enormous guilt for even being allowed to do so.

But this birthday my incredible friends and husband showed me the opposite. And I wanted to share the great joy it brought me to take a moment to celebrate life and hit pause on everything else for the day🎂

Excited for this new decade 💃🪩 taken in Los Angeles, California by @biabrowne

Recently, a dream, and the efforts of 3 years began turning into reality. It’s been humbling to undertake a project born out of a personal reckoning, and to watch it take a life of its own. I am filled with gratitude, fear, responsibility, and entrancement.

At a time when identity is politicized, and the symbolism of our passports and birthplaces is used as an antagonizing tool for division, I’ve found myself circling what it means to be shaped by many places, yet claimed by none.

In a world where the idea of home is both weaponized and romanticized, I can’t help but wonder: what does it mean to seek home, when home has never been just one place?

In the spirit of gratitude, I am grateful for a year of Works In Progress. Though I am impatiently waiting to share all of these projects with the world soon, I have been learning to simply appreciate the work. To be enamored by the process. To continue to improve the craft. It’s been a year of lots of cooking, and I’m looking forward to the banquet👩‍🍳🎞️🍿 by @biabrowne
