This year has been exceptionally kind and generous. It was my first visit to LA and while all my sightseeing was restricted to the film independent office, I wouldn’t have experienced LA any other way. I was selected for the 2026 Film Independent Documentary Producing Lab, and I represented @ingleakshayp’s project ‘In search of Missing Clouds’ - a beautiful, important and urgent story. It’s always so magical to be part of such intimate, warm cohorts. Brought back so much learning, facts and insights from my week there. Hoping that it all translates to In search of Missing Clouds coming out into the world very, very soon! :)) Grateful to @storicultureworld for backing powerful stories 🌸 and to @filmindependent for the work you support and for building this much needed platform for filmmakers!

📢 Everyone keeps asking, “who is behind the nonfiction hotlist?” 🎬The nonfiction hotlist is a volunteer-led team of 33 producers, filmmakers, commissioners and storytellers who set out to discover what’s possible if we look sideways to each other instead of only looking up to the gatekeepers —-> join us in finding new pathways forward together! @biabrowne is an incredibly talented filmmaker and creative producer whose work is as beautiful as it is deeply human. Raised across cultures and continents, she carries the rare gift of someone who has always had to see the world through multiple lenses at once; understanding instinctively what it means to belong everywhere and nowhere, and finding the universal thread in stories that might otherwise feel distant or foreign. That lived experience of navigating different worlds infuses everything she brings to our Fresh Eyes sessions. Her feedback is practical, tailored, and genuinely felt... the kind that doesn’t just sharpen a project technically, but reaches into the emotional core of a story and helps filmmakers find what they were trying to say all along. We recently took part in the Fresh Eyes Program of the @nonfictionhotlist and are so grateful to @isismasoud @mattogens and @biabrowne for the insightful feedback session for ENCOUNTERS, our first feature documentary in the works! The Nonfiction Hotlist champions documentary projects that are still in development, helping them gain visibility and find the support they need to reach audiences. Exceptional nonfiction storytelling can change how we see the world, yet many powerful projects never get the chance to be made. Led by a collective of award-winning nonfiction storytellers, the Hotlist curates a small, vetted selection of unproduced films they believe deserve to be championed and brought into the world.

When We All Get to Heaven won the Allan Bérubé Memorial Prize from the LGBTQ+ History Association, an honor recognizing outstanding work in public and community-based LGBTQ+ history. Named for the pioneering queer historian Allan Bérubé, the prize highlights projects that bring LGBTQ+ stories into broader cultural view and deepen public understanding of queer pasts. When We All Get to Heaven, distributed by @slate Outward podcast, tells the story of one of the first gay-positive churches, the Metropolitan Community Church of San Francisco, and how it faced the personal, social, and political trials of the AIDS epidemic, including the deaths of hundreds of its members.
