For Claire Valentine, naming her dog after a fictional character made perfect sense. Culture Editor at W Magazine, Claire writes about film, TV, music, art, and books for a living. And her Italian Greyhound, Roxie Hart — an homage to the iconic “Chicago” protagonist — certainly acts like the main character.

“She’s sat on my lap and listened in while I’ve interviewed Oscar-winning directors, Grammy-winning musicians, and every type of artist,” @clairexvalentine says, adding that Roxie has “nearly interrupted a few of those conversations, too.”

Claire got Roxie as a puppy, an experience that she describes as “trial by fire.” Claire credits her partner for coming up with Roxie’s unique name. “’Chicago’ happened to be playing on TCM, which is always on in the background of my house, the morning we picked her up.”

The perfect fall rewind: a ‘60s movie about a big dog that thinks he’s tiny, featuring impeccable pups and costumes.

The Ugly Dachshund (1966), adapted from G.B. Stern’s 1938 novel of the same name, is a romcom directed by Norman Tokar, starring Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette. The film follows a Great Dane, Brutus, who is raised by dachshunds — and is fully convinced he’s one of them. by @biche.world

Looking to up your Halloween game this year? Add this vintage Cruella de Vil-inspired fashion collaboration to your eBay watch list.

In 1991, eyewear maker Alain Mikli joined forces with Disney to celebrate the 40th anniversary of One Hundred and One Dalmatians. The French-Armenian designer created 101 styles inspired by the film’s iconic villain, Cruella de Vil.

Some riffed on Cruella’s signature color palette, while others featured paw prints at the temples. Others went further, adorned with dangling dog claws and bone-shaped temples. Mikli even designed a lorgnette, a pair of spectacles attached to a long handle, with black and white spots.

Alain Mikli only produced 101 pairs of each style, making the collection a rare find today. by @biche.world
