Supporting Professionals and Organizations at the Intersection of Music and Health
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Did you know that I build websites through my company, Bida Digital?

I have built and manage over 15 websites. I first did it many years ago as a volunteer project for some organizations. Eventually I started getting paid for it and I decided to hone in my skills and do it the right way.

And since a couple of years ago I do this through my business, Bida Digital. Mainly I help music therapists and organizations in the intersections of music and health, but have also built some other kinds of websites.

Do reach out if you have any website questions or needs!

Thank you, @zhiqianxx for helping with the photo 😊

Event Planning Tip #13: Event Planning: Use Other Events to Refine Your Format

Learning from other events helps you design better ones.

Attend events as a curious observer. What worked well? What dragged on? How did the hosts keep things flowing? Whether it’s a music therapy webinar or a public lecture, note what made the experience smooth or frustrating.

For instance, did they open with a story that hooked you? Was there time for Q&A? These insights help you design better participant experiences in your own events, from pacing to tech setup to audience interaction.

Communications Tip #13: Communications: Create a Swipe File of Great Phrases

Capture well-phrased ideas and language to use in future communications.

Whenever you hear someone describe music therapy in a clear, compelling way—or you come up with a great metaphor in conversation—write it down. Keep a swipe file (a simple notes app or doc) of strong phrases and talking points.

Over time, you’ll build a toolkit of ready-to-use language for emails, presentations, and interviews. This is especially helpful when communicating with funders or non-therapists who need clear, engaging explanations of what you do.

Marketing Tip #13: Marketing: Steal Like an Artist—Adapt, Don’t Copy

Use strong marketing examples as templates, not blueprints.

If you come across a great piece of marketing—an Instagram post, a headline, a call to action—don’t copy it directly. Instead, ask what’s working about it. Is it the tone? The structure? The rhythm? Then rewrite your own version based on your field and your voice.

For example, if you see a campaign about mindfulness for busy professionals, you might adapt it into “5 Ways Music Therapy Helps You Unwind After Work.” The goal is to borrow form, not content.

Website Development Tip #13: Gather Inspiration Before You Build

Looking at other websites helps clarify your own vision.

Before starting a new website—or redesigning an existing one—I always recommend gathering 5 websites you admire. These don’t have to be music therapy sites; they could be from any field that resonates with your aesthetic or values.

As you browse, ask: What feels inviting? What’s confusing? What elements feel aligned with my own work? This reflection makes it easier to identify what you like (and don’t), saving time and helping you build a site that feels truly yours.

Event Planning Tip #12: Use Event Content for Long-Term Outreach

Your event doesn’t end when the room empties.

Events are rich with content—presentations, behind-the-scenes moments, even brief conversations can be repurposed into valuable materials.

The Mexican Music Therapy Association is a great example: they frequently turn short event moments and conversations into engaging social posts on Instagram. For your own events, think about capturing quotes, images, or clips that you can share afterward to celebrate the moment and extend its impact.

Communications Tip #12: Turn Live Conversations Into Written Insights

After great conversations at events or in clinical settings, I often find myself wanting to capture and share the insights that come up. One person who does this beautifully is Raymond Leone, a music therapist who regularly transforms his clinical reflections and stories into thoughtful, written pieces.

His Substack newsletter is a masterclass in turning dialogue into digestible content. If you’re already saying important things, consider writing them down—it’s a powerful way to extend the life of your ideas and share your voice more widely.

Marketing Tip #12: Repurpose One Piece of Content into Multiple Formats

Reach more people without starting from scratch every time.

Creating a single strong piece of content—like a newsletter or video—can fuel an entire week’s worth of material across platforms. I’ve done this with this very newsletter series: one entry becomes a LinkedIn post, an Instagram caption, and even the basis for conversations I have in workshops or with clients.

This approach helps keep the messaging consistent while reaching people who prefer different content formats. You don’t have to keep reinventing the wheel—just keep spinning it.
