Ears looking at you, kid 🧡

✨MEET CUDDY✨

9 months old

Cuddy was found as a stray in Georgia, roaming the streets going up to people 😭 The municipal shelter placed her on a euthanasia list due to overcrowding, until @bideawee saved her at the last second and brought her to their Manhattan location.

When I met her, she was so sweet and curious and IMMEDIATELY cuddly. She loved riding in the backpack, did well on walks and loved being chased at the park. She also loves falling into you to snuggle.

Clover has been in and out of the shelter since she was born due to changing circumstances of those that previously adopted her. She is great in a home and great with kids. She was really shy at first but warmed up and was so outgoing and curious.

Protect her at all costs 🥺

✨MEET WILLOW✨

2.5 years old

Willow came to Bideawee all the way from Tennessee when she was a puppy. After being attacked at the dog park, she became reactive around other dogs, which made city life really hard for her and her adoptive family. She was returned earlier this month and honestly she just needs space to be a dog. Give her a yard, some grass, and a good stick and she is in heaven. She’s calm, gentle with kids, and an absolute sweetheart. She just needs a home where she can breathe.

Its Friday and I thought I would take this opportunity to do some Feral Friday content where we can chat about all things cat and community cat. And I’d like to start right here in my own backyard! Please meet the one, the only, Ms. Feryl Streep! Ms. Streep showed up on my doorstep in July. As the CEO of an animal welfare organization that has been finding homes for cats and dogs since 1903, I am typically on the other side of the cat distribution system. But on that day, I found myself on the receiving side. Ms. Streep arrived already ear-tipped and very hungry. I spent a few weeks posting her photo on all the usual places, asked the town and my friends to do the same, but no one came forward as Ms. Streep’s family. And she has certainly settled right in at our home. We all have come to love her and I am working on socializing her as best I can. She has her own outdoor home now, is fed twice a day and is given treats often. Since I live near farms, we think it’s possible she was a barn cat. She is super skittish but learning to trust us more and more as you can see in the video. We will ensure that she is well cared for as a member of our family even though she is an outdoor kitty. I’d love to see her come inside, but only if it’s on her terms and timeline. I will continue to socialize her and ensure she has shelter and warmth in the winter if she decides she prefers the outside. #feralfriday #cat #cats_of_instagram #kitty communitycat @nycfci @bideawee by @bideawee

Kima is ready for a break from shelter life. Being surrounded by so many dogs has been stressful for her, and we know she’d be much happier in a home where she can settle in and leave all that commotion behind.

Kima is such a sweet girl with people. She’s affectionate, playful, loves attention, and is always happy to spend time with her favorite humans. Give her a toy and someone to play with and you’ll quickly see what a fun, loving dog she is. She has so much more to offer than what you might see when she’s feeling overwhelmed in the shelter.

Kima does guard her food, so she needs an adult-only home. She would also be happiest as the only pup, where she can have her people and her space all to herself.

I was so pleased to stand on the steps of City Hall today with my NYC animal welfare colleagues, the NYC Council members and members of the Animal Welfare Caucus to announce and accept first of its kind funding for this city’s most vulnerable animals. Love at first sight 🥹

Last week I took Missy on an adoption ride, and for the first time, after over 60 adoption rides, we got Missy adopted ON THE RIDE while we were waiting to get her pup cup.

Steve was behind us in line, and you could tell the connection was immediate. Several people in the comments actually called it out after seeing a shot of Steve and Missy that was no longer than 2 seconds.

Several days later I met Steve @bideawee so he could formally adopt Missy, and bring his little girl home.

Some cats want their own space. Loki? He would like to know where you’re going and whether he can come with you. 😂🐱💕

Meet Loki, an adorable 8-year-old tuxedo boy who is basically the feline definition of a Velcro kitty. This sweet boy loves being close to his people and will happily keep you company wherever you are. Sitting on the couch? Loki’s there. Moving around the house? Loki is probably following. Looking for a little companionship? Loki has entered the chat. 🥹🖤🤍

Loki is an absolute sweetheart with a playful side. He loves attention, enjoys playing, and has the kind of personality that makes you fall in love with him before you even realize it.He can get a little overstimulated sometimes, so he’ll do best with someone who can read his cues and give him a little space when he needs it.

Loki also has skin allergies that require ongoing care. He is on a prescription diet and Atopica, which needs to be managed under veterinary supervision. 💙

But more than anything, Loki is just the sweetest baby who wants to be loved. He

Sometimes a girl just needs a pup cup ❤️

✨MEET MISSY✨

Missy has been going through a little something called “kennel breakdown,” or “kennel stress.” It’s what happens when a dog spends too long at a shelter and starts to unravel a bit. Even the sweetest pup can lose it after enough time in a loud, cramped kennel. It can look like pacing, spinning, chewing the bars, or the total opposite, going quiet and hiding in the back like she’s in her villain origin story. Some dogs stop eating or lose their shine.

Well, the second we left the shelter, all of that stress melted away. This girl was an absolute delight. Friendly with people, friendly with dogs, and a professional-grade cuddle bug who would happily make you her entire personality. She locked in every time I talked to her (you can see it in the video), and she’s smart and playful in a way that makes you wonder how she ended up here in the first place. Missy’s ready for her home. Somebody come get their dog.
