Build strength before life demands it.

These are the five things I would tell my younger self.

Build everything on Christ. Start every day in the Word before the noise gets a vote. Train for the wife and children who need your presence, energy, and leadership. Keep studying health and fitness, because being in shape does not mean you understand the body. Then turn what you know outward and serve other men.

If you have built a family and a life worth protecting, physical capability can't stay at the bottom of your calendar. It's stewardship. Your strength gives you more capacity to lead, carry responsibility, and be present when your people need you.

DM 'LEADSTRONG' to learn about our coaching program for men who are called to lead their homes while serving their Savior.

This is what happens when a high performer gets serious about his body.

Business owner. Real estate investor. Family man. Big game hunter. Lifter.

Chad came to me about 18 months ago. Already training hard, already disciplined, but hitting a ceiling on his progress and body composition. He wanted to level up his body the same way he levels up every other area of his life.

So he did what every sharp man eventually does. He stopped going it alone and brought in the right coach.
Over the last 18 months, Chad rebuilt his physique from the ground up. Leaner, fuller, stronger. Brain fog gone. Stress down. Focus and productivity through the roof.

If you’re a man who has built something worth protecting and your body hasn’t kept up with the rest of your life, I can help you.

People who’ve known me a long time think I went red-pilled.

I’m nowhere close.

Here’s what actually happened. I got a family. And the second you’re responsible for someone else’s future, you start seeing the world differently.

I care about their safety. I care about a government that isn’t spending us into the ground. I care about one that stays out of my house and out of my wallet. I care about a country my kids can actually build a life in.

The shift didn’t happen overnight. It crept up slowly. I watched one side drift so far out that right and wrong got blurry. Everything turned gray.

That’s around the time I found God. And when you anchor to Him, the gray starts to clear. Truth stops being whatever the culture decides is acceptable this year. It stops moving. It’s fixed to something that was true long before I was born and will be true long after I’m gone.

And that changes how you treat people. Real care isn’t telling everyone what they want to hear. It’s loving them enough to point them back to what’s true, even when it’s hard, even when they don’t want it. Holding people to a standard is not cruelty. It’s respect. The coward stays quiet to keep the peace. The man who actually loves you tells you the truth and holds you to it.

So no, I’m not red-pilled. I’m not MAGA either.

I’m conservative Christian. All the way. And I’d bet most men with a family and something to protect feel the same, whether they say it out loud or not.

That’s just a father standing on solid ground. by @big_daddy_chap

You might not have a testosterone problem. You might have a data problem.

Every guy chasing energy, leanness, and a sharper mind runs straight to testosterone. Makes sense. Low T gets all the airtime. But T is one gauge on a dashboard full of them. Check one number, call it a diagnosis, and you’re just guessing.

Here’s the trap. Low testosterone and a sluggish thyroid throw almost identical symptoms. Cold hands. Thinning hair. Dead libido. Muscle you can’t build no matter how hard you train. Weight that won’t move. Mood in the gutter for no reason.

A man feels that list, assumes low T, and chases it as the fix. Sometimes he’s right. Often he’s only half right.

Your thyroid runs metabolism, body temp, and how well your cells turn fuel into energy. When it drags, it also blocks your body from using the testosterone you already have. You can raise your T and still feel like garbage, because the bottleneck was never the hormone. It was your engine’s ability to use it.

And TSH, the one number on most yearly physicals checks, is the least complete story your thyroid can tell. It isn’t even a direct read of the gland. It’s your brain requesting more or less output.

Judging your thyroid off TSH alone is like judging a company off one line of the spreadsheet. You need the full report. Free T3, the hormone your cells actually burn. Reverse T3, the brake your body pumps under stress and hard dieting. Free T4, the stored fuel waiting to convert. TPO antibodies, to separate a tuning issue from autoimmune. And the Free T3 to Reverse T3 ratio, power produced versus inventory stockpiled.

A man can have normal TSH and still run on fumes, because his body never turned the stored hormone into the active one.

Your annual physical is built to catch disease. It was never built to tell a driven man if he’s operating at capacity. Foggy, flatlined by 2pm, stuck weight, moody for no reason? Everybody blames aging. The real answer is usually a system running wrong, and that can be fixed.

Testosterone, thyroid, or both. The only way to know is a full panel, not one number off a standard workup.

Get to the root. Stop guessing.

Don’t use clips when benching solo. If you ever find yourself in a jam, it’s much easier to bail when you can dump the weight. Just keep your cool and handle the situation the best you can.

I was in a rush this session. Know the J hooks were too low, but didn’t take the time to adjust the set up. I got lucky. Next time I’ll remember this and take the 2 minutes to adjust it.

A family pays when a man refuses to lead.

God ordained the family. Genesis shows how quickly passivity corrupts it. The serpent deceived Eve. She took the forbidden fruit and gave some to Adam, who was with her. He ate, disobeyed God’s command, and shifted blame instead of owning his failure.

The attack continues wherever God’s Word is treated as optional. Truth becomes negotiable. Sin gets renamed. Responsibility gets abandoned.

Christian men must set the moral direction of the home under Scripture. Know the Word well enough to recognize a lie. Guard your mind so culture does not disciple you. Teach your children sound doctrine through your words and actions.

Ephesians 5 gives the standard. A husband loves his wife as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her. That leadership costs him comfort. It demands obedience, service, sacrifice, and strength under control.

Physical stewardship belongs in that duty. Build the capacity to protect, provide, serve, and remain present when your family needs you. Running on empty eventually reaches your judgment, patience, work, and home.

Your family needs the full man. Grounded in Scripture. Disciplined in thought. Physically prepared to carry the weight.

Men, lead your families. Do your job.

You’ll manage a business, a household, and a calendar down to the minute, and never once check the engine you’re running all of it on.

Let’s be honest about that.

Your body isn’t yours to run into the ground. Scripture is clear: you were bought with a price, and you’re called to honor God with your body. That makes your physical capacity a stewardship issue. Not a vanity one. This was never about abs. It’s about whether you’re taking care of what you were entrusted with.

And I’m talking to the man who keeps showing up. Still leading. Still providing. Still serving everyone around him. Meanwhile, his energy quietly drains, his presence gets thinner, and he tells himself he’s just tired. You’ve normalized running on empty and called it sacrifice.

Here’s what changes the game: you cannot steward what you refuse to measure. When you actually track what’s going on, your numbers, your patterns, your capacity, you stop guessing and start making informed decisions. Measurement gives you real information. Information replaces “I think I’m fine” with “here’s what’s actually true.”

That’s the work I do with men. Not a crash program, not empty promises, but rebuilding the capacity to lead well, serve without resentment, and stay fully present for the people who need you. Strong so you can carry the weight you were called to carry.

If that’s you, stop white-knuckling it alone.

Low testosterone won’t make you a bad man. But it will make being a good one a lot harder.

Character is a choice. Testosterone doesn’t decide your morality or whether you show up for your family. That’s on you.

What it decides is the ground you fight on.

Discipline, drive, focus, emotional control. Those run on a physical engine. When testosterone drops, that engine runs rough. The traits you’re trying to live out get harder to hold onto.

This isn’t gym bro talk. The symptom list is well documented. Irritability. Fatigue. No motivation. Pulling away from people. Trouble focusing. Read it again, because it overlaps almost perfectly with depression. Research shows testosterone treatment reduces depressive symptoms in men. I’ll be honest about the science. Low T contributes, it doesn’t automatically cause it in every man. But the connection is strong enough that ignoring it is foolish.

Then there’s your body. Low T pushes you toward more fat and less muscle. Bring your levels back into a healthy range and the tissue reallocates. Fat down, lean mass up.

Now the part most men never hear.

Normal and optimal are two different things. The standard range runs around 264 to 916. That’s a population average, not a target for a man who wants to operate at his best. When a doctor looks at your 300 and calls it normal, understand what that word means. Normal for a sick population is not optimal for you.

Your body is a stewardship. You didn’t build it, you were given it. Taking care of the engine God handed you is part of the assignment, not vanity.

Get your labs pulled. Know your numbers. Stop guessing.

I’ve been training hard for over 25 years.

Every real jump I ever made came from the same place. The people I trained around.

You learn how to work hard from people who work hard. It rubs off. Your environment matters, and who you stand next to under the bar matters more than most guys want to admit.

Here’s the nuance most people miss.

If I tell the average person to train to failure, they’re not actually getting there. They stop when it gets uncomfortable and call it failure. It isn’t.

I know how to take my body to the absolute edge. I also know I can’t do that every session and stay healthy. That’s experience talking, not toughness.

A beginner is different. I’ll tell a novice to go to failure every set, because what they think is failure is just effort they’ve never pushed past yet.

So if you want to learn how to train hard, go train with someone who’s elite.

You’ll find out real quick what real effort actually looks like.

You’ve heard of glutathione. Something shows up before it even clocks in.

Free radicals are the threat. Leave one unchecked and it sets off the next, then the next. That chain reaction is oxidative stress. Your body has an answer, and it fires in a set order.

SOD is the first responder. It’s an enzyme that neutralizes superoxide, the very first free radical in the chain, before it gets a chance to spread. And because it’s an enzyme, it keeps working instead of getting used up. Glutathione is the cleanup crew that moves in after to clear what’s left.

Both matter. But SOD gets there first. And it calls in the rest of the team, glutathione included.

Here’s the catch. Swallow plain SOD and your stomach destroys it before it ever reaches your cells. Same problem trips up most oral glutathione too.

Cellev8 is a patented, melon-derived form. Micro-encapsulated to survive digestion so it actually reaches your system. And it’s third-party tested. What’s on the label is what your body gets.

I use it every day because it works. I can feel it. I can see it in action. And the science backs it up.

Western medicine has one move for a low mood. Write the script. Fill the pill.

The largest review ever done on this pooled over 1,000 trials and 128,000 people. The finding? Exercise came out about 1.5 times more effective than medication or counseling for depression and anxiety.

Read that again. Not equal. More effective.

And it holds up head to head. Duke ran trials against sertraline. In one, the exercise group hit remission at four times the rate of the drug group. No side effects. No fatigue. No numbing out.

Here’s the mechanism, because this isn’t motivational fluff. Movement raises BDNF, the protein your brain uses to repair and grow. It lowers chronic inflammation. It resets your stress hormones. Feed that with real food instead of the processed garbage stoking the fire, and you change the entire internal environment your mind is living in.

The system medicates a lifestyle problem and calls it treatment.

You were given one body. Strength, sweat, and stewardship of what you eat are not soft self-care. They are weapons against the darkness pressing in on you.

Now hear me. If you’re on medication, do not stop on your own. Talk to a provider first. This isn’t about throwing away help. It’s about picking up the most powerful tool most men never touch.

Start with a walk. Then a lift. Then a plan.

The way out is heavier than you think. Pick it up.
