A taste of home.

Sweet, salty, & creamy pistachio ice cream made with @bigdaddysnuts

In Iran, pistachios are called the smiling nut because their shells crack open like a grin. For Persian families like mine, they’ve always been more than a snack, they symbolize celebration, abundance, and the essence of home. My grandparents grew up with pistachios on every table, so with them coming over tonight, it only felt right to honor their heritage with a taste of home.

Shaking what our Daddy gave us.

After months of soaking up the California sun and desert winds, Big Daddy’s Nuts are finally ready to be shaken loose. Harvest is the moment we wait for each year. It comes once, between late August and October, and lasts about 12 weeks - that’s pretty good stamina if you ask me. Here’s how we get them off the trees before they’re hulled, dried, and packed up for you. Let’s just say.. rough is kind of their thing 😉

Meet your new favorite better-for-you bark.🍫
Juicy dates, rich dark chocolate, crunchy @bigdaddysnuts pistachios, and bursts of pomegranate - all in one easy no-bake recipe. Sweet, salty, chewy, and crunchy… it’s the holiday bark upgrade you didn’t know you needed. ✨

You will need:(makes 8–10 pieces)
• 12 Medjool dates (pitted) - dates
• 1 cup dark chocolate (70% or higher), melted
• ¼ cup shelled @bigdaddysnuts pistachios, roughly chopped
• ¼ cup pomegranate
• Sprinkle of flaky sea salt

To make:
1. Line a tray with parchment paper.
2. Press dates flat and arrange in a rectangle, edges touching.
3. Pour melted chocolate evenly over the dates, smoothing with a spatula.
4. Sprinkle pistachios, pomegranate arils, and sea salt on top.

Full circle moment.

It’s days like these that remind us of the importance of carrying our father’s legacy. Before each harvest, we walk the orchards as a family to see the trees at their fullest one last time. Decades ago, our dad walked these rows when he first began farming. Today, we walk them again — only this time, not just with him and his kids, but with his grandchildren running through the trees, creating the kind of core memories my siblings and I will never take for granted. Same trees, same soil, three generations later.

Big milestone for Big Daddy’s Nuts.

Today, Gabi and I made the 7-hour round trip to Fresno to get our Certified Producer Certificate (CPC) — which officially licenses us to sell Big Daddy’s Nuts at the various Los Angeles farmers markets!

We’re still a little ways out, but be sure to sign up at bigdaddysnuts.com to be the first to know when we launch, where we’ll be, and all the exciting updates to come.

Postcards from Le Grand, California.

This is what Big Daddy’s Nuts look like straight from the tree - growing in clusters, wrapped in a soft outer hull, and slowly ripening inside their shells until they’re ready for harvest.

Like most good things, pistachio trees take time. Nearly a decade to bear a real crop, and even longer for an orchard to truly come into its own. Big Daddy understood that from the start. He poured in patience, persistence, and let the land set the pace.

Every time you open a bag, remember: before the crack, before the bag, before the snack - this is where it all begins.
