The same shooting principles apply to carbine shooting as they do pistol shooting. Your visual connection to the target and physical connection to the gun set all the right conditions.

It starts with your eyes, then your shoulder and cheek weld, then your support arm and hand. With a solid connection at your shoulder (or thereabout) and cheek, you’ll find it takes considerably less effort with your support arm than you think to keep the gun returning quickly and precisely to the spot you want it to. The strong hand does the same thing it would if it was on a pistol: hold the thing, and hammer the trigger. 😈

We introduce these principles to shooters in our Intro to Carbine classes and rep them hard in our Carbine Handling Workshops. Then, @cameron_warner816 pushes them to their limits across numerous targets of varying degree of difficulty in his Carbine Performance class. In our opinion, this progression is critical to understanding how best to train (and get better) on your own. 👊🏽

@bigdarrell24 just finished up this year’s last Carbine Handling Workshop with a great crew of dudes. These guys were awesome!

We always say we can tell exactly what kind of shooter you are by how you handle the platform… it all starts here! 🙌🏽

Intro to Carbine with @bigdarrell24 is in the books! 🙌🏽

A really great group of guys showed up today and ended up shooting over 500 rounds! Smaller classes never mean “less” of anything. Rather, it means we can do more! 🤙🏽

These guys are all on the right path. Now it’s time to get to (the dry) work! 😈

Carbine II (Manipulations) is in the books! 🙌🏽

Another small but stellar group of dudes leaving with a lot of “handling” HW. The next step for them will be PERFORMANCE! Get to work, boys! 🙌🏽

Welcome to the team, Josh Gerrard!

Josh served in the U.S. Army from 2000-2004 as a Cavalry Scout, during which time he deployed to Iraq in support of OIF I. After an honorable discharge, Josh went on to work as a private contractor for the U.S. Department of State (DoS) from 2004-2009, where he completed multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. From 2010-2011, after leaving the DoS, Josh worked as an Executive Protection Specialist for a top 10 “high net worth” family in the U.S.

In 2011, Josh began his career in law enforcement with the Salem Police Department in Massachusetts. In 2014, he became a Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC)-certified firearms instructor in pistol, pistol-mounted optics, patrol rifle, and shotgun. Josh is currently Salem PD’s full-time firearms instructor, active shooter response instructor, and mechanical breaching instructor.

Josh has trained with Rick Crawley and Paul Costa of Achilles Heel Tactical, Rich Bruno and of RAB Firearms Training & Consulting, multiple, well-respected teachers at the SIG Sauer Academy, and he did complete both the Pistol and Carbine Capstone with Tyler at PGC Training Group. Josh is patient, compassionate, and maintains a super open mind about shooting and training; he is the kind of instructor the self-defense industry deserves. 🫶🏽
