Thank you, @velox_training_group and @joel.park_ for three days of great training and a hell of a lot of shooting! 🙌🏽

32 guys went home with a lot of homework and a good understanding of what’s required to get it done. This is the way. 👊🏽

Moving and shooting is about a balance between three key pillars: stability, aggression, and preparation (of the gun).

You should be exploring how aggressive you can be with your movement while keeping the gun stable enough to put the rounds where you want to. Also, the sooner the gun is indexed on the target, the sooner you’ll be able to start collecting the information you need to start shooting. Keep in mind, MORE of one pillar might mean LESS of another…

Forward, rearward, lateral movement and everything in between… thinking about getting the most you can out of each pillar will help you figure out what you’re really capable of. 👊🏽

Don’t overcomplicate what to do with your legs and feet!👇🏽

Developing a good shooting stance should be about working to achieve two things: MOBILITY and STABILITY on the gun. Just like working to see the spot you want the bullets to go to and gripping the gun so that it behaves predictably, mobility and stability are the two key principles of an effective stance.

For more on how your stance affects shooting and moving, check out the “LE Intro to Competition and Performance KEY LESSONS” video on our YouTube!

You can tell instantly how well (or terribly) a gun-carrier can shoot based on how that person handles a pistol. Mastering those handles takes zero bullets. Dry practice is the way. 👊🏽

It isn’t hard to bring this kind of training to your PD. The WILL to go learn, explore, and commit for long enough to see it work is all that’s required. Easier said than done, for most… 😈

Totally unrelated: @kr_shooting_ is single-handedly making “red shirts” great again. 🙌🏽

See aggressively. Shoot aggressively. Move aggressively. This is how it’s gonna happen “in real life,” so we’ve gotta make it happen in training.

We push ourselves and our students regularly to see just how aggressive they can be with their vision, trigger pulling, and movement. C’s and D’s, even misses, are okay at first…

Over just a short time, you’d be amazed how aggressively you can actually work the gun while also doing what’s required to keep it stable enough to put bullets where you want them. 😈

On Saturday, @kr_shooting_ ran 10 officers from 7 different agencies through our LE Performance Pistol program. This group of coppers absolutely crushed it, and lots of good learning took place.

Thank you to @springfieldpolicema for hosting us in your stellar indoor range! 👊🏽

PRINCIPLE // Noun // Defined as a fundamental truth, law, or doctrine that guides behavior, reasoning, or “the way something works.”

Understanding principles of vision, grip, stance, and movement are key to figuring out how to train and explore speed v. accuracy on your own.

Some techniques work better than others, no doubt, but no single technique will ever outweigh doctrine. 🧠

@stephencarrigan wrapped up his first-ever Two-Day Dynamic Concealed Carry Pistol on Sunday night!🔥

Running around and shooting fast and accurately with your CC rig and pistol takes more work than you think if “moving & shooting” is new to you. This group did great at moving past its limit to discover what’s possible. Thanks for pushing through (with eager, open minds) the scorching temps all weekend! 🔥

Now, get to the dry work boys! 👊🏽

The same shooting principles apply to carbine shooting as they do pistol shooting. Your visual connection to the target and physical connection to the gun set all the right conditions.

It starts with your eyes, then your shoulder and cheek weld, then your support arm and hand. With a solid connection at your shoulder (or thereabout) and cheek, you’ll find it takes considerably less effort with your support arm than you think to keep the gun returning quickly and precisely to the spot you want it to. The strong hand does the same thing it would if it was on a pistol: hold the thing, and hammer the trigger. 😈

We introduce these principles to shooters in our Intro to Carbine classes and rep them hard in our Carbine Handling Workshops. Then, @cameron_warner816 pushes them to their limits across numerous targets of varying degree of difficulty in his Carbine Performance class. In our opinion, this progression is critical to understanding how best to train (and get better) on your own. 👊🏽

@bigdarrell24 just finished up this year’s last Carbine Handling Workshop with a great crew of dudes. These guys were awesome!

We always say we can tell exactly what kind of shooter you are by how you handle the platform… it all starts here! 🙌🏽
