Another Year In The Books!🖤

I just want to congratulate @l.smith23 and the entire Actively Black team on another successful show. Thank you for another amazing opportunity. I’m extremely honored to be a part of such a monumental movement, celebrating black excellence. Much love to all the other performers/models. It was a pleasure sharing the stage with so many incredible individuals. Looking forward to working with you all again.

I also want to acknowledge @fredrikanewton, a former Black Panther and widow to the late great Huey P. Newton. Growing up, my parents saw to it that my siblings and I knew who we were and where we came from. They educated us on major movements in African American history, including the Black Panther Party. I remember watching old interviews/speeches of Huey P. Newton, Bobby Seale, Fred Hampton, Angela Davis, Stokely Carmichael, Kathleen Cleaver, etc. and feeling an overwhelming sense of black pride. They were relentless in their fight for political and economical equality. So you can imagine how surreal it was walking alongside Fredrika Newton, and her granddaughter, @sashabslaughter. Man, I can’t put into words how much that meant to me. Thank you for all that you are and what you do to keep that legacy alive.

Last Sunday, I joined my brothas @tbfamstix and @_primetime_sha in the TD Five Boro Bike Tour. For those who don’t know, it’s a 40-mile tour that spans the city’s five boroughs. The tour begins in Lower Manhattan, travels north into the Bronx, heads into Queens, then to Brooklyn, and ends in Staten Island. 32,000 cyclists cross 5 major bridges (FDR Drive, Queensboro Bridge, Pulaski Bridge, Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, and the Verrazzano Bridge). All that said, I don’t know why I thought this was finna be a breeze.😄I’ve never been more wrong in my entire life. Only by pure determination, was I able to finish strong. Such a great experience! Looking forward to doing it again next year!

Being born into my family means you’re a Cowboys fan. It’s really just that simple. Even if you don’t like football at all, you’re sure to pledge allegiance to “America’s Team” or risk being traded to another family. This fandom has bonded the Stapletons season after season for generations, but this year feels a little different. Why? Because the man largely responsible for introducing my siblings and I to this way of life and can always be heard saying “This is our year.”, unfortunately isn’t in the physical space to do so. We didn’t tailgate at MetLife this year like we usually do. We didn’t plan to travel and catch a game somewhere. Everything’s just felt off. That is until my brother @bigden8910 hit me and said the Cowboys were playing the Ravens in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and there was no way we could miss it. Now if you know Denzel, you know that since a child, this has always been his dream vacation. I think his first word might have been Brazil actually. With this in mind, I agreed, we booked it, made it happen and I couldn’t be more grateful for the experience! Bonding with my brother amidst all we have going on is simply priceless. We both needed this far more than I think we realized, and although pops wasn’t able to be there with us in the physical, we made sure he was in the building and right by our side every step of the way! We lost, but it’s all love! My family is undefeated! ❤️
