After years of stalled talks and unfulfilled promises, Greensboro adult novelty store Priscilla McCall’s has finally delivered on their theme song promise to be where “fun and fantasy meet.” However, this historic accord took a dramatic turn when the two distinct forms of pleasure, fun and fantasy, combined to form an entirely new distinct form of pleasure, which our experts are dubbing “funtasy.”

“When I heard that fun and fantasy were finally getting together
 man
I knew it was gonna be a good damn time. But this was so far beyond my expectations,” says
masturbation enthusiast Ronovan Goines. “I don’t even know how to describe this.”

According to Goines and other witnesses, the new feeling began at the Priscilla McCall’s location on High Point Road Gate City Boulevard, when an as of yet unidentified man picked up a video while holding a grab bag of mystery toys. The effect was immediate and dramatic.

“I don’t want to say that man was turned to goo, but that man was turned to goo,” says Goines. “The look in his eye though right before
I’ve never seen nothing like it.”

The effect was not as dramatic for other nearby patrons like Goines, but it did plunge them into a state of delirious bliss that proved messier than even Priscilla McCall’s was equipped to handle. Adding to the mess, several other men took the grab bag and video and also were immediately gooified.

Haz-mat crews were called in to contain the escalating goo troubles, but the challenge proved more drastic than expected. “This ain’t my first goo-sitch,” says high-risk sanitation specialist Billy Bob Flamenco. “But man, this one’s different. I’ve had to mop up a lot of guys.”

Greensboro City Council is expected to vote tonight on funding an expensive committee to explore issues relating to “funtasy” and “gooification rights,” though in the meantime, experts are warning citizens to steer clear of any situation where fun and fantasy may intersect.

As to what the mysterious goo is made of, our experts have analyzed samples and they assure us, “as bad as you think it is, it is much worse.” More to come as this story develops. #gsonc #greensboronc #satire #gatecitynoiseordinance taken in Greensboro, North Carolina by @bigilo_bobolo

Been acting it up on stage big time since August. Had the honor of playing Lady Bracknell for @rhinoleap production of Importance of Being Earnest and am now embarking to play Scott Connor in the newly formed Crown Jewel Theatre’s production of American Son.

I am exhausted and energized, tackling back-to-back meaty roles for these wonderful companies. November will see me return to more comedy shows at @idiotboxcomedyclub and @alchemycomedy as well as (hopefully) some new screen projects to round out the year.

Chasing dreams at 45 is not for the timid, lemme tell ya. My body may be slowing down a tad, but my spirit has never been more engaged.

Can’t wait to see what comes next 🎭

Since it began emanating from The Meeting Place sculpture on West Smith and Prescott Street in early June, the mysterious extraterrestrial phenomenon known as The Shimmer has been spreading unceasingly through the Downtown Greenway. Greensboro’s City Council, though, has refused to take action or even comment, even as all plant, animal, and human life in The Shimmer’s path, as well several pieces of public art, have been absorbed into its prism-like influence and spit back out again as terrifying hybrid creatures that defy all known natural laws.
“I used to walk my labradoodle on the Greenway every day,” complained Westerwood resident Jodie Gulp, “but after Barker Posey ran through The Shimmer, her fur is made of beaks and vines! I can’t even pet her anymore!”
Greensboroites who reside near the now impassable Greenway and outdoor enthusiasts alike have called on the City Council to offer any kind of solution to the phenomenon. Instead, the Council has largely ignored those cries, some of which are the anguished screams of those touched by The Shimmer.
Citizens hoped the issue would arise at a poorly publicized community gathering held at The Pyrle early last week, but The Shimmer was left off the agenda in favor of a discussion about downtown parking. A resolution to build a barrier around the Greenway and prevent The Shimmer from expanding to downtown and Lee Street Gate City Boulevard was proposed, but defeated in a 5-4 vote.
While rumors have begun to circulate online that some council members may be in the pocket of Big Shimmer, or may in fact be malevolent duplicates created by the arcane phenomenon, answers have been in short supply. As with many council decisions, most citizens have just indifferently accepted the new status quo.
“It could be worse, I guess. At least The Shimmer is kinda pretty. And I suppose getting turned into a half-man, half-man plant with flowers for eyes and the limbs of a squirrel wouldn’t be that bad, all things considered,” says Bill Crosby, UX designer. “If Oden Brewing gets absorbed, though, so help me.”

Characterizing the experience as “dumbfounding and deeply enraging,” area green-thumb and pedant Willy Narnik, 38, stood outside local gardening store Plants & Answers for six-and-a-half hours today in the punishing sun.

“I still don’t get it,” he said. “Is that something people say? Is it a some kind of joke or a reference? It feels like it should be, but what’s the pun? What’s the PUN?!”
Narnik clutched a completely melted THC slushie and a barely begun to-do list, claiming he couldn’t proceed with his day until he figured it out. “The name should be something,” he demanded.

“And ‘Answers’ doesn’t cut it,” he interjected before we could ask a follow-up question, “I could go anywhere for answers. Libraries, kiosks, other sto–” He trailed off, once again staring back up at the modest awning, now a reinforced mental portcullis preventing his entry permanently. With dusk fast approaching, and the store firmly closed for the day, Narnik just shook his head and let out exasperated sighs.

Leaving Narnik to the night, we reached out to Plants & Answers for a comment and only encountered what appears to be a small, goblin-like figure asking impossible riddles before hanging up:

“Some tiskets here, and there some taskets,
What we are’s not as bad as ‘If It’s Baskets!’”

Can you help figure it out? Call our hotline and leave a tip! #greensboro_nc #gso #gatecitynoiseordinance #puns taken in Greensboro, North Carolina by @bigilo_bobolo

Gently nudging up the volume on his car stereo, local music enthusiast and self-described “indie rock lifer” Ryan Cod is reported to have turned to you and other friends while driving on Pisgah Church Road and said “This song is so good. And the band that does it, Wednesday, they’re actually from Greensboro.”

According to rough estimates, you’ve heard about the critically acclaimed alt-rock band–known for their vivid and imagistic lyrics and a sound that combines shoegaze and grunge guitars with pedal-steel driven country–and their place of origin some 72 times already from Cod, and as such, did not respond. However, new acquaintance “Young” Billy Crenshaw, was unaware of your friend groups’ unofficial but standard response of silence and/or indifference to Cod.

“Oh I’ve heard these guys!” Crenshaw said, causing you to visibly wince. “I thought they were from, like, Asheville or something, though.”

“Well, officially, that’s where they started, yeah. But Karly is totally from Greensboro,” Cod replied, referring far too casually to Karly Hartzman, the frontwoman, founder, and primary songwriter of the band. “They still film videos here, too. Like there’s one that they filmed at a bar across from the Target on Lawndale. And Karly even wore a Grimsley hat on Colbert. It ruled.”

Cod carried on for some 7 minutes more, speculating about whether Hartzman, who also appears on the new Weezer single “We Might As Well Be Strangers” currently resides in Greensboro, whether or not MJ Lenderman also called the city home while the two were in a relationship, and theorizing that Cod and Hartzman would almost certainly hit it off if they were to meet. In doing so, he largely drowned out Wednesday’s 2025 single “Townies,” a song you said you liked.

And you liked some of their other songs, too. Rat Saw God is such a good record. Remember I played a bunch of songs before I saw their show at NCMA in Winston? And I know you liked “Elderberry Wine.” It’s kind of this pretty, country song? Remember hon? You said you really liked it? It’s so great. And the band that does it, Wednesday, they’re from Greensboro too! #gsonc #wednesdayband #gatecitynoiseordinance taken in Greensboro, North Carolina by @bigilo_bobolo

Today, Greensboro’s flagship institution of higher education announced the cancellation of its newest department: Gentrification. “It was a promising start,” department chair Dr. Richard “Bags” Dinero said, fiddling with a golden shovel, “I mean we had over two hundred interested students show up to our open house, I don’t know what happened!”

We tracked down one of those students and asked why they didn’t commit to the major. “I don’t wanna, like, speak for anyone, but we all thought it said ‘Gender-ification,’” sophomore Sheryl Scoob says. It turns out a majority of interested students believed it to be a new gender studies major. “You know, something actually important,” Scoob continued while setting up post-Social Security retirement by making hot moves on Robinhood and Polymarket.

The new department was going to immerse students in 15 original expansion projects, all along Gate City Blvd. Lee St. “Five of them were going to be casual dining spots, and the other ten would just sit empty until some promising entrepreneur turned them into what downtown Greensboro desperately needs,” says assistant professor Brant Chugly. Looking around his office and raising his eyebrows at a large, framed photograph of a data center, Chugly optimistically concluded, “You know, it could be anything.” Then, when asked about potential population displacement, Professor Chugly took a call on his office phone even though nobody heard it ring.

When asked for comment, the office of UNCG Chancellor Joffrey Q. Bingus claimed to be unaware that such a department was ever created. Chancellor Bingus’s secretary informed us they had been having problems with The Shimmer enrolling as an MBA grad student and warping space-time to its chaotic will. By the time we returned to the newly annexed section of The Bryan Building, which housed the new major, all objects and personnel were gone. Only a small, swirling vortex of sparkling crystalline energy was present; it pulsated a few darkly melancholic, harmonic scales before vanishing completely.

We here at Gate City Noise Ordinance wish everyone a happy (and cautious) new academic year! #greensboro_nc #uncg #gatecitynoiseordinance taken in Greensboro, North Carolina by @bigilo_bobolo
