spent a few weeks in march (approx. 15 days) coming up with this plan, creating the design, recreating the design, drawing, painting, glueing, beading, glueing again, and stitching these pins together for the @sudburywolvesohl !

i’m grateful i came up with this idea and actually stuck it through, even if it did mean late nights spent beading, four broken needles and numb fingers. i learned a lot about new art techniques and thank my friend sav for the knowledge she gave me (and supplies!!) while i worked on this project!

this was my first big project and first gift so obviously there are some flaws on a few (dropped pens, missed stitches, loose beads) but i think it gives them all a bit more life :) but i’m proud that i actually accomplished it and gifted these to a team that brought me and a bunch of new friends together!

given with these pins is some information i taught in my lectures on medicine wheels, as well as my own interpretation of the art i created. this pin acts as a reminder to check in with yourself, take care of yourself and work with the pack around you and was created with good intentions in mind to hopefully offer a little good luck in the playoff run these boys are about to face

lucky loon season one is complete!!

the lucky loon mail club (aka lucky loon hockey club) is a hockey themed mail club i started in february after a semi-joking tweet that i needed a new hobby. i started with 7 members and ended with 40 over just five months!! (and only two months of public promotion)

over those five months i sent out approximately 200 prints (mini and regular), over 100 hockey cards, 12 $1 bills, wrote 5 essays, and glitter bombed my recipients at least twice!

i’d only practiced lino a few times before starting this project, so the whole thing was definitely a learning process, but it was so so so much fun, i’m looking forward to opening the club back up in october :)

here are a few examples of some of the prints that went out over the past few months, the last slide being the print that started it all off as i examined dedication to a sport as teammates and players, as well us as fans
