Anar Salayev, Executive Director @bikesd, asks @cmwhitburn about The Fork (the intersection of El Cajon Blvd, Park Blvd, and Normal Street).

BikeSD, along with @uptowncommunityplanning, advocated to Fix the Fork in 2025 and secured $750k in the FY26 budget to study the intersection. Now we want to see implementation!

CM Whitburn talks about the traffic study, partnering with @sandiegounified at the Brucker’s Site, and community engagement. taken in San Diego, California by @bikesd

A new @derobikeracks Bike Fix-It Station is now installed at First Unitarian Universalist Church @firstuusd in Mission Hills, right at the southern terminus of Bachman Place!

This gives cyclists a convenient place to pump up a low tire, make basic adjustments, or work on their bike before descending into Mission Valley or climbing back up onto the Central Mesa.

Huge thanks to @cmwhitburn’s office for supporting the project through a Community Projects, Programs, and Services Grant, and to Reverend Justine, Reverend Kristen, Director of Operations Robie Evans, and church member Steve Gelb for welcoming the station onto the church property and helping make it possible.

Small pieces of infrastructure like this help make biking more practical, reliable, and accessible across San Diego. taken in First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego by @bikesd

Just days after a Tesla drove down the Pacific Beach boardwalk, on the other side of PB this car drives at me on the Rose Creek bikeway. @joelacava_d1 @cmraulcampillo our bikeways need to be protected with steel bollards to protect us from reckless drivers. It is unacceptable for cars to be able to drive on our walking and biking paths. taken in Pacific Beach - San Diego, CA by @bikesd

The city of San Diego needs to start following it's own guidance and set up a temporary safe bike lane detour when construction needs to close a bike lane. Especially on a 35+ mph with plenty of space.

The city already settled a $2.95M lawsuit for a cyclist killed by a city vehicle blocking a bike lane. by @bikesd

The protected bike lanes on 30th Street, which run through North Park and South Park between Adams Avenue and Juniper Street, recorded their 100,000th rider of the year this summer, the earliest that milestone has been hit since the lanes opened.

The lanes are averaging over 400 riders per day, a 12% increase over last year and almost triple the 136 daily riders in 2020, the last full year before the new lanes were put in.
