Announcing my latest book: ’STARS & STRIPES: The American Flag in Cinema’ 🇺🇸As described in the title, the book collects hundreds of images of the American flag showing up in films through the last century. Seeing the collected images draws out the wide range of emotions that we experience when presented with the American flag in the contexts of story-telling and real life - that’s as simply as I can put it, and I’m excited for you to experience it
- Bill McMullen @billions

This limited-edition book, done with @BlurringBooksNYC, begins preorders today for delivery in the fall. Head to their account for details on pre-ordering.

THE NEW STYLE💥 This is a t-shirt I designed for #BeastieBoys in 2003. Originally, it was a shirt I did for #SwishNYC, the clothing line I did with my main man @bochizzy Tony Chan, and graphically it was simply the smashed weapon and the text at the bottom, quoting the Beastie Boys’ song title from #LicensedToIll, but the band saw it and we talked about putting it in their official t-shirt offerings. So I added the band’s name, we picked some new colorways, and there it was. 📆 Sadly, twenty years later, rampant gun violence is still a current topic here in the United States. We shall keep pushing for change. @BeastieBoysStory @TheHistoryofStreetwear #HistoryOfStreetwear #BillMcMullen #GraphicDesign #SelectionTool #WhenImOnTheMacTheSuckersRun taken in New York City, N.Y. by @billions

Huge shout-out and thanks to Kevin Lyons @KLyonsNatBorn for gifting me this book, an incredible little piece he picked up for me just because “It reminded me of you, Bill” (Note to self: Be more like Kevin Lyons) 🫡 The book is @yamashefo’s (Seth Yamasaki) ‘The World Trade Center As Seen On Record Labels and Album Covers 1964-2001’ and that title just about explains it all - Seth works over at @a1recordshop and while I have not spoken to him about this project, I have to guess that in his days of intaking some of the incredible collections A1 Records acquires, maybe he started noticing some Twin Towers graphics and collecting them, and as a result we have this crazy little niche product, which speaks to me as a fellow Twin Towers enthusiast. And as a Twin Towers enthusiast, Seth Yamasaki’s name sounded familiar to me - turns out he’s the grandson of #MinoruYamasaki, the Japanese-American architect who designed the World Trade Center Twin Towers. 🚨 And one last thing: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Kevin Lyons! 🎂 Final slide of me and Kevin 📸 by @jerrydoes #TwinTowers taken in A-1 Records, NYC by @billions

TWIN TOWERS: ‘PAIRS’ 🏢🏢 Event tomorrow! Saturday (August 15) at @blankmagbooks_nyc in the LES… got a new series of prints with some of my favorite Twin Towers images, as seen in my book ‘Twin Towers: The WTC in Cinema’. Laying that book out, I really started to love many of the left/right page spreads that came together. Now I’m offering some of those pairs as archival photo prints, suitable for framing. I’ve reshot these off of my 90s Sony reference CRT monitor to get that absolute crack vivid-color-and-scan-line combo. I mean look at those pics above - like I said before, it’s like combining ‘Blade Runner’ and some of my favorite imagery from Front 242, Cabaret Voltaire and Skinny Puppy records.

The ‘PAIRS’ introduction is happening at BlankMag Books, 17 Eldridge street, 6pm-8pm. There’s a few print sizes available, very reasonably priced - I’m working with Keith at @BoroughPhoto to bring their great quality and reproduction to some cool pieces that you could frame and keep with you forever, in homage to some of the greatest buildings ever constructed 🖼️ Roll through, start your Saturday night right - the architecture/movie nerd crew is gonna be there, the music will be dope, we will of course have the ‘Twin Towers’ book for sale if you want one, and *BONUS* I’m also showing a new ‘Twin Towers’ video project. #BlankMagBooks #TwinTowersInCinema #CRTmonitor #ArchitectureMovieNerdCrew #BillMcMullen taken in Museum at Eldridge Street by @billions

TWIN TOWERS: ‘PAIRS’ 🏢🏢 Event this Saturday (August 15) at @blankmagbooks_nyc in the LES, I’m introducing a new series of prints with some of my favorite Twin Towers images, as seen in my book ‘Twin Towers: The WTC in Cinema’. Laying that book out, I really started to love many of the left/right page spreads that came together. I would pop off screenshots a lot just on the strength of the two images together. Now I’m offering some of those pairs as archival photo prints, suitable for framing. I’ve reshot these off of my 90s Sony reference CRT monitor to get that absolute crack vivid-color-and-scan-line combo. The resolution drops and everything turns to a hazy memory and I love the look. It’s like combining ‘Blade Runner’ and some of my favorite imagery from Front 242, Cabaret Voltaire and Skinny Puppy records.
