Matt and Araceli of Afro-Andean Funk asked me to create the cover art for their new record. The concept involved shooting Araceli on the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset, which as anyone who has been on the bridge can tell you, is a tall order, especially if you want/need to make light and don’t want hundreds of people in the shot. So I made it as a composite which allowed us to make the whole image more fun and fantastical in the process.

I went and shot the bridge and buildings and clouds and such, comped it all together into a plate I could lay my studio shots of Araceli into. After 70+ layers and far too many hours of futzing to count I ended up with an 11,600 pixel square image that can be cropped vertically and horizontally as needed for promotional material. #photoshop #compositing #noai #albumcoverart taken in Brooklyn Bridge, New York City by @billwadman

These photos were taken last week by Bill ❣️

Every shoot becomes a little timestamp, a reminder of a specific moment that will never exist in quite the same way again.

And I think that’s one of my favorite things about being photographed. It preserves a feeling, a season, a story.

Not every photoshoot feels this way, of course, but this was definitely one of them ❣️
