‼️ AUCTION FOR BLM ‼️
One of the best ways to personally help the BLM movement is to use your skills, talents and resources to help groups in need.
.
I am auctioning off this portrait I painted of Oluwatoyin “Toyin” Salau, a 19-year old Nigerian-American activist from Florida that was found dead on June 13th after being kidnapped, raped, and murdered. She had been protesting for #BLM and was considered a prominent voice through out her community. Before her disappearance, Toyin had tweeted multiple times about being molested, and HAD reported this to the police. However, none of her actions were heard, and she was murdered later that week. .
.
This is just one story, but it stuck with me.
I’ve decided to DONATE 100% of the money raised from this auction towards #justiceforblackwomen and #blackactivists .
.
💜 DM ME @billyburzy OR @highnessglobal TO BID ON THIS PAINTING 💜 40” x 60” Acrylic on Canvas
.
**We will be storying updates with the bidding prices - bids start at $400**
.
.
Post this to your story to promote #blacklivesmatter and help raise money for her cause. -

You were fighting for your life while you were fighting for the world. You spoke out, and we ignored your cries. From healthcare to sexual abuse, your claims were neglected. We need to protect ALL black lives, not just some. RIP 💔

During a global crisis, it’s easy to think negatively. Finding distractions is our go-to, however, realizing that relying on a constant stream of social interactions to get by isn’t necessarily the best way to live our lives.
Remember, your mental health is as equally important as your physical health. Use this time in quarantine to be with YOURSELF. Take the time you have alone to reflect - I call it “looking at black” - meaning, look at nothing for a while. Be with your own thoughts (however scary they are), so that when you come back to reality, you see your accomplishments from a new perspective - for a minute anyways. .

“Your solitude will be a support and a home for you, even in the midst of very unfamiliar circumstances, and from it you will find all your paths.” -Rainer Maria Rilke .

So I thought it’d be cool to share some process photos of a custom piece I created this summer for @jbgauvin 💖 When I look at other artist’s work I find myself mentally deconstructing their process, techniques and order of colours. Would you have guessed this painting looked like #4 at one point?! “Magdalen” - 48” x 48” acrylic on canvas

African sunset - painted this a few years after my trip to Kenya - inspired by minimalism in the 1960’s in NYC. The aim was to create clarity of nature through painting by reducing content to its primal form 🔲⬛️⬜️▫️
