I am so proud of this video and everyone who’s got the song to this point. You all mean the world. Stepping into my Queerness for the first time lyrically and visually as an artist has felt daunting, nerve-wracking and exciting all at the same time. It feels so good to be releasing new work in this way. I am so overwhelmed with the love today. It means the world.

“Gold is about reflecting back to your younger authentic self. As a queer person, I was always told to act a certain way to fit into society, to dress a certain way as a boy to fit the heteronormative way of being. I reflected back to my instincts of wearing dresses, high heels and escaping to my room listening and dancing to the Spice Girls. When someone tells you as a young boy you shouldn’t be doing all those things, your authentic self wears away and you slowly become someone you’re not for the sake of fitting in. You gradually end up hiding and disguising layers of who you truly are which is so damaging and leaves stains of shame in our lives. I wanted to use the acoustic folk/pop style to capture the simplicity and natural way of being. The sounds of birds and laughter that surrounded me and my brother as we ran around the garden in my mum’s dresses establishes the hopeful beginning to the song. The female backing vocals are all my close friends which not only elevates the sound of the song into this magical dream like chorus but brings an encouraging and personal supportive hold into this track. This song is to my younger self and a reminder to anyone to live authentically in themselves.“

A huge thank you to my family for encouraging me to be my authentic self since the beginning, @robmadge02 for inspiring me to write this song in the first place from their phenomenal art and a special thank you to @bobtregoning for being the most incredible support and creative mind throughout this project. I couldn’t have done this without you ✨.

It’s been a while… I haven’t done a musical since 2019, but when a story this special comes along, I had to come out of musical theatre retirement! 😂

I’m a very lucky one to be part of such an incredible company & creative team, telling such an important and extraordinary story. 🏳️‍🌈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Can’t quite put into words how much my Grandad means to me and my family.

The past 48 hours have been somewhat of a rollercoaster but my beautiful Grandad sadly passed away yesterday to be with Nan.

98 years filled with love.

I am extremely lucky to have an incredible family, a big, beautiful family full of love and Grandad was at the very heart of it all. He loved his family fiercely, loved to sing and loved being Welsh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Yesterday he turned to me and said “I sang what a wonderful world at your wedding”. A few months ago I went to Swindon to sing with him and we ended up recording “What a Wonderful world” together.

And my world is beyond wonderful because of you Grandad. Love you. Give Nan the biggest hug from me. I hope I’ve done you proud. 🤍 by @billycullum
