Happy to announce that I sent “Swiss beats” 7C+/8a ✔️ 🤘🏻

Finding the right beta to fit my height, wingspan, and strengths was quite a journey. Huge thanks to @bouldermax for the support! Beyond our endless debates over who gets credit for the beta, those “motivating” comments were exactly what I needed to push past my limit on this boulder. 🧗‍♂️💥

Held onto this news for a bit, but topping out this boulder it’s easily one of my proudest climbing memories.

I spent the past two weeks in South Africa to present my research at the ISMRM 🇿🇦🤗. Luckily I also had the chance to do some sightseeing around Cape Town and to add a little bouldering vacation at the end of the conference 👯‍♀️🧗🏽🥰! I am extremely grateful for this multifaceted trip and my work giving me the opportunity to visit this remarkable place! I will for sure come back to Rocklands for more bouldering!

Magic wood but injured: this boulder was the perfect choice, a great line going from left to right and minimal involvement of the right leg. It feels good to try hard again, even with some limitations! Thanks for the fun sessions @naomi.moyson and @bodhi_climbing 💥💪🏻 and great photos @fyfeeboywonder 📸🙏

King Size FB 8A ✔️

My first 8A, and honestly I’m still skeptical about the grade. Usually I need 3 sessions for a 7C, so it feels a bit unreal to send this cool line in just one session! But who am I to judge?
This is my first boulder in this grade, I have no real expertise, and it definitely suited my style 100%. Strong moves in an overhang and a super nasty crimp intermediate to break the common jump beta.

Soft or not, I’ll take it and be happy ☺️

Why did I go back to this morpho boulder again? No idea… but let’s blame the stunning view and sharp crimps 🤭🧗🏼‍♀️
The crux for me was that big reach to the left sloper— just barely in my range! For sure it’s a whole different game when you’re @bouldermax’s height… total walk in the park for him! But I’m proud I got not annoyed by this fact and send anyway 💥💪

Just sent my Magic Wood project — very unexpected after three weeks without climbing in Hawaii for work and holiday. The start of the session was rocky, I forgot the knee pad and had to do the first move differently, but surprisingly I stuck it anyway. Even with this little improvement it didn’t feel right and I really wanted to stop and walk away, but Max kept pushing me to try more. Sometimes I get the feeling he is the reason why I am able to climb most of my projects. Right before I pulled on I switched up my beta on the crux move using a method I wasn’t strong enough when I first tried the boulder.

About our Christmas vacation in Ticino:
My main goal was to finish Baby Boss FB 7C, which I had tried two previous weekends before our vacation. I surprised myself with climbing it on our first day 😊. With a lot of time left I wandered around Ticino in search for my next project. There was only one problem: to many good lines💎! So it took some time until I decided which one I wanted to invest my time ⏰ and skin the most. Sadly I got no send there but at least there is plenty of reasons to come back and enjoy the pizza🍕! Eh I mean the boulders of course 😅
