November 2nd, 2024, The last time I put on a Mendon XC uniform.
7 years later, I have finished my Mendon cross country career. Many hills, workouts, pairs of shoes, early morning van rides, awesome teammates, and thousands of miles later, it’s time to hang the spikes up, for now. This sport has taught me so much, about how you can give it your all and still underperform, pushing your body through limits you couldn’t think you could’ve reached, and how much work you put into the sport and having all the hard work pay off. From running on the track to running from high school to high school, Every. Run. Matters. Saying that I’m very happy with how my senior year turned out is an understatement. From my first ever high school race being a 25:22, to my final PR being a 16:54, cutting off that much time in just a 4 year span is just crazy to me. And I can’t forget adding the accomplishment I have dreamed of for 7 years, which is trying to get top 10 in school history, and I ended up being the #4 runner in Mendon XC history. I thought that halfway through the season I couldn’t hit this goal after underperforming then after the Portage Invite, I hit a spark in the season, then 3 weeks later, I did it on that same Portage course. Thank you to every teammate that’s been there for all the laughs and support throughout the years, thank you to every single coach that have been there for these past few years, thank you to all my competitors who have pushed me, and especially thank you mom and dad, I wouldn’t have been here if wasn’t for you guys. (and again especially thank you mom for being my personal photographer all these years)
