Y’all wanted to see how the loaf turned out with the @wayne_caddy shaping method (@birdysbread style where I didn’t double check how many times to do it 😬😁) so here it is! Higher hydration than my usual loaves… I haven’t mastered the high hydration lovely oven spring. But this loaf looks good so far! Crumb shot incoming later today. :)
Also had some questions about my tools again recently, so here’s the lowdown:
@thebreadmat replaces your parchment paper (@thebreadmat_eu for you all across the pond!)
@rosehillsourdough for your proofing baskets that are second to none.
@wildclementineco for the beautiful cover! So many patterns to choose from.
@lecreusetcanada for the big Dutch oven (that I need to clean :)
@lanongloves for the oven gloves!
@breadllamas for today’s bread lame.
Scoring design completely inspired by @you_breader_believe_it ! Go check out the original!

Something about this score makes me so happy. Maybe it’s that the lines are wavy? Maybe it’s the cheeky ear? I’m not sure but I love it. :)

Sometimes you just need to put blade to bread without thinking too hard….

Cute.
Way too time intensive.
Have you ever done this? by @birdysbread

I’m not sure it was worth it. 😅🫪🥴😆

@thebreadmat (if you’re making sourdough, you should be making it on a bread mat! Seriously. :)
@rosehillsourdough (and I’ve tried a lot of different bannetons and banneton alternatives…. They don’t get better than these!)

Replace your water with pizza sauce in a sourdough discard pretzel recipe, add more pizza sauce and cheese on top, and voila. Best thing I’ve eaten all week. Dare I say perfect for school lunches?! by @birdysbread

Spot the hair cut … 😅 💇🏽‍♀️

Thanks @bulkabaskets for this lovely wood pulp proofing basket!

I’ve been using @rosehillsourdough ‘s wood pulp proofing baskets, and wood pulp is 100% the way to go! It gives the loaf a nice crusty exterior! Lovely to score on, lovely to crunch on. :)
This Bulka basket did a great job! It was a little longer than I am used to, so I think I failed in the shaping department… ha. I should’ve shaped it longer… or made a bigger loaf. But the basket is great! by @birdysbread

I think soccer is God’s favourite sport.
Here are my reasons:

1. It is incredibly accessible to anyone, regardless of access to resources. It can be a played with very little equipment, and therefore very little money. You can even play barefoot and shirtless!
2. It uses your whole body, head to toe! (Yes even your hands—throw-ins and keepers!) And it’s excellent exercise, while also being possible for those with less fit bodies to play.
3. It is not a violent sport, unlike many other very popular sports in the world (hockey, American football, boxing, wwf, etc).
4. It’s a team sport, and takes team work and strategy to do well. It is so clear on my boys’ soccer teams how much of a difference this makes—one superstar will help, but it’s the team working together that’ll win the game.
5. It’s global! Anywhere you go in the world, you’ll find people who love futbol, and then refer to point 1… you can pick up a game with nothing more than a ball and some pre-determined goal posts.

I know at least one person who disagrees with me and has argued that basketball is in fact God‘s favourite sport. I’m looking at you @jimdmullins11 ! Buuuut I think I make a pretty convincing case.
