“Here is our Lost on You story — Birgit & Lara. ❤️

About ten years ago, I, Birgit, saw LP for the very first time on German television, in the daily soap “Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten” ( good times, bad times) I was instantly fascinated — by LP, the music, the voice, the whole person behind it.
I started following LP and her music, and somehow, just because I wanted to stay connected to the artist and the music, I even downloaded Instagram — something I had never really been “big on” before. 😄

And that’s where my inner fangirl slowly grew bigger and bigger. Along the way, I started talking to other LP fans on Instagram… and one day, I started talking to Lara.

I was living in Germany. Lara was living in South Africa. We were thousands of kilometres apart, and at first, all we had were written words.

But somehow, through those words, something happened. We fell in love. ❤️
Long story short: I travelled to South Africa to meet Lara, she came to Germany to visit me, and eventually we decided that we wanted to spend our together.

We got married, and Lara has now been living with me in Germany for seven years.

So yes... this is our Lost on You story. A story that quite literally changed both of our lives.

Thank you, LP, for everything. For the positive spirit you share, your kindness, for your art, your music, your incredible energy — and for all those things that are almost impossible to put into words.

You never know where a song, an artist, or a simple Instagram post might take you.

For us, it led to love, marriage, and a whole new life together.

Heute ist einer dieser Tage, an denen mich Sprachlosigkeit begleitet.
Ich bin traurig. Wütend. Erschüttert.
Als Teil der LGBTQIA+-Community trifft mich das Geschehene beim CSD in Berlin besonders. Ein Ort, an dem Menschen gemeinsam für Sichtbarkeit, Gleichberechtigung und ein friedliches Miteinander einstehen, wurde von Gewalt überschattet.
Meine Gedanken sind bei allen, die verletzt wurden oder diese schrecklichen Ereignisse miterleben mussten. Von Herzen gilt mein Mitgefühl der Familie, den Freunden und allen Nahestehenden der Frau, die ihr Leben verloren hat.
Was mich immer wieder beschäftigt, ist dieselbe Frage: Warum begegnen wir Menschen mit Hass, nur weil sie anders lieben, anders leben oder einfach sie selbst sind? Wie kann es sein, dass Vielfalt bei manchen Ablehnung statt Neugier, Mitgefühl oder Respekt auslöst?
Wir haben nur diese eine Welt. Für mich sollte sie ein Ort sein, an dem jeder Mensch ohne Angst und ohne Rechtfertigung so leben darf, wie er ist.
Gerade jetzt dürfen wir nicht aufgeben. Gerade jetzt müssen wir zusammenstehen. Hass darf niemals darüber entscheiden, wie wir leben oder wen wir lieben. Er darf uns nicht davon abhalten, sichtbar zu sein, unsere Stimmen zu erheben und gemeinsam für eine Welt einzustehen, in der Vielfalt selbstverständlich ist.
Wir werden weiter füreinander da sein. Weiter Haltung zeigen. Weiter lieben. Denn Angst darf niemals stärker sein als Menschlichkeit.

Seeing you live again after more than 40 years was something truly special. I first saw you when I was around 16, and I was completely overwhelmed back then — and last night felt just as powerful. The energy was unbelievable, the guitarists were absolute masters, the piano and every single instrument sounded incredible, and the singer was beyond amazing. The whole band together created something truly magical.

Happy Birthday, my dear daughter,
On this very special day, my heart travels all the way across the ocean to Mexico, just to be close to you. Even though we are far apart and cannot celebrate together in person, please know that not a single day goes by without you being in my thoughts and in my heart.
I am so incredibly proud of the wonderful woman you have become. Your courage to follow your own path, to build a life with Issac, and how you embrace your life is truly inspiring. You carry so much warmth, strength, and kindness within you — un corazón lleno de amor — and no distance could ever change how deeply loved you are.
Birthdays are moments to pause and reflect, and I hope today you take a moment to see yourself through my eyes: strong, compassionate, brave, and beautiful — por dentro y por fuera. Wherever life takes you, I hope it brings you happiness, health, and countless moments of laughter. May your days be filled with sunshine, love, meaningful friendships, and dreams that continue to grow and come true.
Even though Germany is very far away, our bond knows no borders. La distancia no rompe el amor, and we are always connected by memories, love, and the hope of seeing each other one day.
