Meet Ben Harvey, one of our 2026 Westfield Local Hero finalists 💙

After experiencing a life-changing spinal injury as a teenager, Ben Harvey now inspires others through his advocacy for inclusion and accessibility. Through his work with Youngcare, Ben helps build a more inclusive community by ensuring young people with high physical support needs are treated with dignity and have the chance to gain control over their lives.

Your vote could help Ben expand Youngcare’s school engagement program, delivering student leadership activities, inclusion talks and community events.

Well, apparently I’m a hero now…

I’ve been named a finalist in the Westfield Local Heroes 2026 program, representing @youngcareoz

It’s a pretty special one for me, both personally and professionally. Living with a disability and working at Youngcare, I get to see firsthand how important choice, independence and the right support are for young people with disability.

The winner gets $20,000 for Youngcare, which would make a huge difference to the work we’re doing and, selfishly, give my fundraising budget at work a very nice little boost!

So I need your vote! It takes about 30 seconds, and honestly, if you don’t vote, we probably can’t be friends anymore.

👉 Voting link is in my bio!

Please share it around if you can ❤️

Happy birthday, old boy. 🍻 Hope the beers are cold, the banter’s flowing, and you’ve already told everyone up there how to run the place. Nice of Parra to finally turn up and get you a birthday win too. Couldn’t have asked for a better bloke to call Dad 💙 by @bj.hrv

We lost a good one today.

After giving pancreatic cancer one hell of a fight, we said goodbye to Dad, Dougie, just after lunchtime this afternoon.

He was the best dad anyone could ask for. He’d do absolutely anything for his family, never asked for much in return, and somehow always managed to make everyone around him laugh. If you knew Dougie, chances are you’ve got a story or two.

Life won’t be the same without you, mate. Thanks for everything you did for us. We love you and we’ll miss you every day.

Now who’s going to tell me which teams to back in my office tipping comp?

Rest easy big fella. ❤️ by @bj.hrv

This morning, Business South Bank hosted a “You Can’t Ask That” panel inspired by the hit TV show You Can’t Ask That — with our very own Ben to be part of the conversation.

The session created a safe space for honest questions and open dialogue around topics often considered taboo, with Ben sharing candid insights about living with disability. It was an insightful morning filled with laughter, learning and meaningful connection. taken in South Bank, Brisbane by @bj.hrv

Thanks to the best agent in the biz @dallan.murphy for rallying the troops, and to Josh and Cait for being bold and rocking the smugglers. Can’t forget to thank @marymillermedia for the snaps, and for being the best sunshade ever. Swipe right to see her make me stare into the sun 🫣

It’s not too late to sign up for the Budgie Bolt, or to get your hands on your own pair budgys courtesy of our awesome event sponsors at Budgy Smuggler #linkinbio taken in Ballymore Stadium by @bj.hrv
