SOLD! I found this old picture (2011) in the back of my wife’s wardrobe the other day. It needs a good home!! I’m thinking £650 + postage… (about £90) to the US…) Float mounted and framed in glass. (Frame is ok, but does have a few scratches) The drawing was inspired by a book about tin soldiers. Size: 53 x 73. Ink and soft pastels on paper. DM me if interested! 🙏 Bjorn by @bjornlie

Bjørn Rune Lie is a Norwegian artist based in a small fishing village in Fife, Scotland. 🇳🇴🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🎨

He has worked as an illustrator for over 20 years (for a plethora of international clients), but personal work and experimentation have always been central to his practice.

His “Flamboyant Flowers” series is a vehicle for him to simply explore (and get lost in) different processes and forms of mark making without worrying too much about composition or concept or storytelling. Rather, he looks at them almost as “two-dimensional sculptures” that have a certain physicality and a certain “feel” to them. Although the finished pieces look fairly polished, the process is all about taking risks and embracing the unpredictable in the quest for happy accidents.

Combining techniques like paper marbling and balloon printing, rubber stamps and pochoir stencilling Bjorn creates strange and otherworldly, beautiful and perhaps slightly seedy looking “botanical illustrations” that draws inspiration from ceramic art, “natural curiosities” (Ernst Haeckel and Albertus Seba) and outsider art.

We’re excited to have you featured in our upcoming debut art magazine my friend. taken in Edinburgh, Scotland by @bjornlie

Happy Friday y’all. Here’s some work in progress…..Been looking at moths lately, trying to shoehorn some new elements to the “flower studies”….We shall see how many, if any, make it through to completion without me messing them up… taken in East Neuk of Fife, Scotland by @bjornlie

Hey kids! I found a bunch of old drawings in my Plan Chest, (black and white charcoal ones mainly) that I thought I might as well see if anyone would be interested in. Some are original drawings for cool illustration projects, some are just early one-off experiments that led to other things, but doesn’t really fit into a particular body of work…I am quite fond of them though, but I’ve tried to price them as low as I can. DM me with a screen shot if interested and we can work out the details. Thanks!🙏 All sold now, apart from no. 9 (the big bouquet) Thanks so much, and sorry to the folks who missed out! Will do this again another time, despite the insane admin. XB taken in East Neuk of Fife, Scotland by @bjornlie
