can't breathe - 9th wonder + smitty

So this is my first try at becoming more precise with my vocal stacking, and being more vulnerable with my process. I think I'm making good progress already! I love, love this song so much, and I wanted to experiment with the arrangement to bend it a lil bit. Be in that pocket 🙂‍↔️ because of that, it kind of has a back and forth effect which I really like. I also went in wanting to keep this one very light, very minimal and subdued, to really just see what I could handle at first. So I only did one stack throughout, no harmonies, no elaborate phrasings. Recording this was a bit of a hassle but the most fun, with the amount of time and discipline it took. There were definitely some moments I had to surrender, and let things be how they were (recording those damn hard consonants 🥲 especially). Towards the end, I became a little too frustrated with my choices. Nevertheless, I'm gonna try things a bit differently next time. Now that I know I can do it, I want to have a healthier approach, absent of any desire for a particular finished version in my head. Something even more consistent, audacious and imaginative. Until next go-around.
