I’m clocked in for the Black Census Telethon with @blackfutureslab, and we’ve got a goal to hit! 👀

The Black Census is your chance to speak up about the issues, experiences, and priorities that matter to Black communities across the country. This year, we’re trying to hear from 300,000 people, and yes, that means YOU.

Rooted in history. Driven by vision. 👏🏽

From the historic Granite neighborhood in Richmond, Virginia, @alexsisrodgers reflects on what it means to live in a place shaped by Black legacy, and why our voices today are just as powerful in shaping what comes next.

Taking the Black Census isn’t just about being counted. It's about making sure our communities are heard, our needs are prioritized, and our futures are built on our terms.

Honored to be partnering with @blackfutureslab! 🖤

We sat down for a little Q&A, answered some serious questions (and a few unserious ones 😭), and talked about the Black Census Project and the importance of understanding the experiences and priorities of Black communities.

Learn more about the Black Census Project and find the link to take the survey in my bio! 🖤

Black culture 🤝🏾 radical imagination.

Earlier this month, our Managing Director of Strategy and Impact, @alexsisrodgers, shared the @culturecon stage for a panel discussion alongside @ashley_r_allison of @the.root, New York City Council Member @cmnantashawilliams, Richard Brookshire of @blackveteransproject, and @richardafowler of Richard Media Company to remind us that culture, politics, advocacy, and power are deeply connected. The stories we tell, the platforms we build, and the conversations we spark all influence how the world sees us and how we see ourselves.

Our big takeaway: When we invest in Black voices and create space for our experiences, we actively shape the future we want to see. by @blackfutureslab

Last month, I joined @blackfutureslab in DC to attend @cbcfinc #CongressionalBlackCaucusWeek for the first time ever! 🙌🏾

It was an incredible opportunity to listen in on insightful panels (including @iamkristinpowell on the power of Black-led data), connect with other alumni from the We Got the Power Training Program and Black Futures Policy Institutes at our 2026 Reception, and speak to our elected leaders on Capitol Hill.

Thank you for the opportunity Black Futures Lab — let’s run it back next year! 💪🏾 taken in Washington, DC by @blackfutureslab

🛑 scrolling, ✋🏾 watching TV, and 👂🏾 up!

We were at #CultureCon with @laronhinesofficial to ask attendees: Why do Black people need to add their voice to the #BlackCensus?

The tl;dr? We can make it crystal clear what our communities need, and we can build new systems that let us thrive.

6,000+ Black voices have already joined the conversation. Now more than ever, it is important to make sure our communities thrive. How do you do that? Click the link in my bio.

The Black Census is creating space for Black people to share their dreams, priorities, and vision for our future. Your voice belongs in this conversation, too. What does a future where our communities can thrive look like to YOU?

I teamed up with @BlackFuturesLab at #CultureCon to connect with our community and talk about the issues that matter most to us. Because when it comes to shaping our future, EVERY voice matters!

Even as the federal government continues its assault on Black people, Black culture, and Black progress, our Deputy Executive Director, Natishia June, didn’t hold back with @rolandsmartin when sharing how over 6,000 Black folks are dreaming out loud about the future we know we deserve through the #BlackCensusProject. 💪🏾

Listen to Natishia share what Black people’s political dreams are, and what policymakers need to focus on if they want to address the needs and concerns of Black voters leading up to Election Day and beyond.

And don’t forget to add your dreams to the #BlackCensus now to ensure Black folks are at the center of shaping what comes next! Link in bio ✊🏾 by @blackfutureslab
