Honored to be partnering with @blackfutureslab! 🖤

We sat down for a little Q&A, answered some serious questions (and a few unserious ones 😭), and talked about the Black Census Project and the importance of understanding the experiences and priorities of Black communities.

Learn more about the Black Census Project and find the link to take the survey in my bio! 🖤

BLACK VOTERS MATTER LEADS NO KINGS: VOTE EARLY IN ATLANTA
National voting rights organization encourages Black voters to cast their ballot early for the
midterm elections

ATLANTA, GA — On October 17, Black Voters Matter (BVM) and Indivisible Georgia
Coalition will host the No Kings: Vote Early voter mobilization in Atlanta, in conjunction with the 2,500 events taking place in big cities and small towns across all 50 states. This national effort by the No Kings Coalition is designed to show people power in action and reject the idea that power belongs to kings, billionaires, or politicians.

The Atlanta activation brings together local, state, and national partners to energize and empower Black voters to cast their ballots early instead of waiting until Election Day to ensure
that our votes are cast, counted accurately, and protected every step of the way. Infused with Black Joy and Culture, this activation will be family-friendly and include a Party at the Polls with a voter village, future voters station, We Are The Architects visioning board, food trucks,
playground for kids, and a live DJ. BVM’s advocacy partners in reproductive justice, healthcare,
labor, housing, and environmental justice spaces will lead power hours with their constituencies
to vote, in addition to the No Kings: Vote Early rally and entertainment stage.
Speakers include: Cliff Albright, Co-founder and Executive Director of Black Voters Matter; Leah
Greenberg, Co-founder and Co-Executive Director of Indivisible; Marc Morial, President and
CEO of National Urban League; Sarah Parker, National Coordinator for 50501; Lauren GrohWargo of Fair Fight Action; Melanie Campbell, National Council on Black Civic Participation.

Black voters are at the center of the intensifying fight for ballot access and representation, as
rising costs of gas, groceries, and housing put increased pressure on working families. Black
voters must be centered in the movement that uses the ballot as an act of resistance and a tool
to demand accountability, protect our communities and shape our future. https://www.blackvotersmatterfund.org

Last month, I joined @blackfutureslab in DC to attend @cbcfinc #CongressionalBlackCaucusWeek for the first time ever! 🙌🏾

It was an incredible opportunity to listen in on insightful panels (including @iamkristinpowell on the power of Black-led data), connect with other alumni from the We Got the Power Training Program and Black Futures Policy Institutes at our 2026 Reception, and speak to our elected leaders on Capitol Hill.

Thank you for the opportunity Black Futures Lab — let’s run it back next year! 💪🏾

I’m clocked in for the Black Census Telethon with @blackfutureslab, and we’ve got a goal to hit! 👀

The Black Census is your chance to speak up about the issues, experiences, and priorities that matter to Black communities across the country. This year, we’re trying to hear from 300,000 people, and yes, that means YOU.

Take the Black Census now 🖤

6,000+ Black voices have already joined the conversation. Now more than ever, it is important to make sure our communities thrive. How do you do that? Click the link in my bio.

The Black Census is creating space for Black people to share their dreams, priorities, and vision for our future. Your voice belongs in this conversation, too. What does a future where our communities can thrive look like to YOU?

I teamed up with @BlackFuturesLab at #CultureCon to connect with our community and talk about the issues that matter most to us. Because when it comes to shaping our future, EVERY voice matters!

@blackfutureslab Executive Director @iamkristinpowell joined @joyannreid to discuss the early insights from the 2026 Black Census Project ahead of the midterms.

With findings from 6,000 respondents to date, Powell says one message is clear: Black communities want a seat at the decision-making table and a government that truly serves them.

The Black Census Project is the largest survey of Black people in history; this year, Black Futures Lab aims to reach 300,000 respondents. Watch the full segment and take the census using the links are in our bio!

The Black Census is not about numbers. It’s about what WE have to say. 🗣️

I teamed up with @BlackFuturesLab at @CultureCon to hear directly from Black folks about the issues impacting our communities, what we want to see change, and what matters most to us.

Now we’re passing the phone to you What’s one issue you want to see addressed in our community? 👇🏾

For generations, the Black Church has been where faith, community and civic engagement meet. We’ve prayed, organized, educated and mobilized, and that legacy continues.

October 17, we’re gathering for Breakfast & Ballots at @theimpactcenternc. I’m honored to welcome @revdrbarber II as our morning speaker for a timely conversation on faith, civic responsibility and the ballot.

Come informed. Leave prepared. Register today and meet us at the table. Link in bio.

Who's pulling up to @culturecon? Find me on the Culture Stage tomorrow for a conversation with @ashley_r_allison, @richardafowler and @cmnantashawilliams. We're digging into all things politics, advocacy, and public service. Because in the complex world we're living in we need to have these conversations I'm every room where our people are.
