Honored to be featured in the Britishpedia @britishpediabybph Book of Successful People in Malaysia & Singapore 2025 (7th Edition). Still feels a bit surreal knowing this book will be sitting in public libraries and universities… and my face will be in it. No pressure at all, right? 😅

When the Britishpedia team reached out, I was genuinely humbled. To be included alongside incredible personalities in business and public life is something I’ll never take lightly. It’s going to be a resource for many, and I’m grateful to contribute even a small part to it.

My beginnings were very humble. BlackGrid @blackgridseo @blackgrid.my started 10 years ago in my tiny home office in Los Angeles, built on nothing but grit, Google, and a dream. I had no investors, barely any funds, just the determination to survive one month at a time.

This recognition isn’t just mine. It belongs to every client who trusted BlackGrid, every team member who believed in the mission, and every challenge that pushed me to grow.

Fast forward a decade, BlackGrid now has a presence across the globe and has served clients worldwide.

What an incredible 2-days at the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Carnival @aseanyec 🇲🇾

Grateful to have spent the week surrounded by inspiring founders, creatives, and leaders from across ASEAN, who are all united by a shared belief that entrepreneurship can shape the region’s future.

It was an honour to share my thoughts as a panel speaker, discussing how branding, storytelling, and creativity can help ASEAN businesses build global relevance and influence.

AI is reshaping the way we search, but SEO is more relevant than ever.

When I first started BlackGrid @blackgridseo in Los Angeles, our mission was simple: help businesses grow beyond traditional marketing using the power of digital. Between 2018–2020, SEO became our backbone, earning us the #1 spot in LA before expanding into Southeast Asia with Malaysia as a key hub.

Today, the rise of AI has sparked a big question: Is SEO still relevant?

My answer: Absolutely — it’s even more critical.

Landed in KL & headed straight to grab today’s copy of NST (1/9/25) @nstonline , which highlights how AI tools are transforming Malaysia’s SEO market.

This is a big milestone for BlackGrid @blackgridseo , as the company is being recognised by a Tier-1 media outlet which underscores the importance of SEO and the impact we’ve been making in this space.

After 10 years in the industry, I can confidently say these are the most exciting times for businesses to grow, especially with the right strategies and tools in place.

As part of the November 2021 Google Local Search update, Google introduced a new local pack and map design for their search results.

Now, the map is moved to the right side of the search results.

A Google spokesperson said:

“We’re constantly exploring ways to connect people with the helpful information that they’re seeking. We’re currently rolling out an update to the Search interface on desktop so when people search for places or businesses nearby, like ‘parks near me’ or ‘restaurants near me,’ they’ll easily see local results on the left and a map on the right. We expect this to be broadly available over the coming weeks.”
