Honored to be featured in the Britishpedia @britishpediabybph Book of Successful People in Malaysia & Singapore 2025 (7th Edition). Still feels a bit surreal knowing this book will be sitting in public libraries and universities… and my face will be in it. No pressure at all, right? 😅

When the Britishpedia team reached out, I was genuinely humbled. To be included alongside incredible personalities in business and public life is something I’ll never take lightly. It’s going to be a resource for many, and I’m grateful to contribute even a small part to it.

My beginnings were very humble. BlackGrid @blackgridseo @blackgrid.my started 10 years ago in my tiny home office in Los Angeles, built on nothing but grit, Google, and a dream. I had no investors, barely any funds, just the determination to survive one month at a time.

This recognition isn’t just mine. It belongs to every client who trusted BlackGrid, every team member who believed in the mission, and every challenge that pushed me to grow.

Fast forward a decade, BlackGrid now has a presence across the globe and has served clients worldwide.

What comes next will be bigger, bolder, and built with even more purpose. The journey is only beginning!

AI is reshaping the way we search, but SEO is more relevant than ever.

When I first started BlackGrid @blackgridseo in Los Angeles, our mission was simple: help businesses grow beyond traditional marketing using the power of digital. Between 2018–2020, SEO became our backbone, earning us the #1 spot in LA before expanding into Southeast Asia with Malaysia as a key hub.

Today, the rise of AI has sparked a big question: Is SEO still relevant?

My answer: Absolutely — it’s even more critical.

✅ SEO is no longer just about keywords; it’s about topical authority, structured data, trust, and cultural nuance.
✅ Government initiatives like MyDIGITAL and Ekonomi MADANI are accelerating digital adoption, with a goal of 25.5% GDP contribution from the digital economy.
✅ Businesses that integrate SEO with digital PR, community trust, and customer experience will stand out in a crowded market.

At BlackGrid, we have learned that AI doesn’t replace SEO. It enhances it. Google’s new Search Generative Experience shows how AI is transforming search. The future of SEO in Malaysia (and beyond) will be driven by trust, credibility, and the ability to adapt quickly.

In this new era, slow movers risk falling off the radar. But for those ready to embrace AI-powered SEO, the opportunities are limitless.

Landed in KL & headed straight to grab today’s copy of NST (1/9/25) @nstonline , which highlights how AI tools are transforming Malaysia’s SEO market.

This is a big milestone for BlackGrid @blackgridseo , as the company is being recognised by a Tier-1 media outlet which underscores the importance of SEO and the impact we’ve been making in this space.

After 10 years in the industry, I can confidently say these are the most exciting times for businesses to grow, especially with the right strategies and tools in place.

If you haven’t picked up a physical paper in a while (I am guilty as charged 😌) today’s a good one to start. Or you can check out the online version here:

What a day with the Iltizam Catalyst 2024 cohort! 🚀

Last Wednesday was all about setting the stage for the next 6 months. Long from @roarpoint shared gems on branding & marketing, @shanerzl broke down digital advertising, and I dove into websites and SEO (aka your business’s digital storefront).

It was intense (so many QnA - the most across cohorts), inspiring, and packed with actionable insights. These businesses are ready to take on the digital world, and I can’t wait to see their growth journey unfold!

Here’s to empowering SMEs and making big things happen. 💪

What an incredible 2-days at the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Carnival @aseanyec 🇲🇾

Grateful to have spent the week surrounded by inspiring founders, creatives, and leaders from across ASEAN, who are all united by a shared belief that entrepreneurship can shape the region’s future.

It was an honour to share my thoughts as a panel speaker, discussing how branding, storytelling, and creativity can help ASEAN businesses build global relevance and influence.

To end the week on an even higher note, BlackGrid @blackgridseo @blackgrid.my was recognised with a Digital Marketing Award at the ASEAN Young Entrepreneur Awards 2025 Gala Night, presented by YB @adamadli_ (Deputy Minister of Youth & Sports).

Here’s to building stronger stories, smarter brands, and a more connected ASEAN.

Last year in November I had the privilege to help 40 aspiring freelancers to start their journey to become an SEO. They all came from various backgrounds, some are copywriters, some marketing execs and some are web designers. This initiative was made to help them generate extra income during this economic climate.

We had a 2 day workshop that covers all the important aspects on SEO. We delivered a few comprehensive modules to make sure we iron out the fundamentals and game plan for the next 9 months in their early journey.

All these were made possible by MDEC’s @globalonlineworkforce . Thank you for the opportunity to help Malaysians increase their knowledge in a much important field and make some extra income for their own livelihood in the process.

We had more people signed up for the program but we could only accommodate 40. Hope to have another one to give the opportunity to the others that missed out.
