Our photo dump from @emerging__earth last month!🌱

Set among 173 acres of regenerative land at @42acresretreat, Emerging Earth was a lovely opportunity to learn and heal in deeper relationship with the Earth.

We had beautiful conversations around food and ecology amongst moments of rest and reflection.

We are always grateful for the reminder that land-based work is not only about growing food, but connection with the people and land itself.

Throwback to an incredible sprouting workshop by Paulette and the Black Roots team at Wolves Lane Community Centre.⁠
⁠
Paulette shared how sprouting beans can increase the nutritional content of our diet, while only demanding minimal inputs and space. Her energy and enthusiasm for plant-based nutrition was infectious, and the team left with a new found appreciation for lentils, beans, pulses!⁠

Autumn is here, and @wolveslanecentre is getting ready to celebrate the season!

Join us for the Autumn Seasonal Market at Wolves Lane — a day celebrating harvest, community and all the abundance grown right here in our community garden.

Expect plants and produce, food, market stalls, entertainment, workshops and activities for adults and children — with plenty of opportunities to explore, connect and enjoy the space together.

Returning to land and community memory through Afroecology 🧡

Our workshop with @gogrowwithlove and The Earth Sisten Collective was a space to reconnect with ancestral ecological knowledge, share cultural stories and explore what it means to build more reciprocal relationships with land.

The workshop was rooted in five principles:

🌿 Land-Based Learning: rooted in traditional African ecological knowledge
🫂 Cultural Storytelling and Ceremony: guided in practical land skills
🌱 Reciprocal Growing: guided by traditional farming systems
🏡 Strengthening Youth Connections: to land identity and belonging
🥕 Food Sovereignty and Cultural Preservation

Afroecology is more than a way of growing food. It’s about remembering ancestral wisdom and caring for the land in harmony with nature. Through self-sustaining communities, we can build stronger through collective action.

Every Thursday, we make time to come together with our friends and colleagues at @wolveslanecentre and @blackrootz__ for our community lunch.

No agendas. No deadlines. No meetings to rush off to. Just good food, good conversation and time to connect.

Because the work we do is rooted in community — and sometimes, the most meaningful moments happen when we simply sit around a table together.

We had the privilege of spending time at a local community for our Gardening & Mental Health workshop, connecting with some incredible people through nature, conversation, and community.

The day was all about slowing down, getting our hands dirty in the garden, and taking time to reconnect. Activities like these are a simple but powerful reminder of the positive impact nature, community, and meaningful conversations can have on our mental wellbeing.

It wasn’t just about gardening, it was about the laughter, shared stories, and genuine connections we made throughout the day.

A huge thank you to @curatedpsych , @blackrootz__ , and @eercommunity for welcoming us and creating such a positive space. We left with full hearts and can’t wait to come back💚🌱 by @blackrootz__
