Before streaming. Before playlists. Before music was just something playing quietly in the background; there was the jazz kissa. 🎚️

Born from Japan’s traditional coffeehouse culture, these intimate listening rooms became places where the record was the main event. Owners collected hard-to-find vinyl, obsessed over their hi-fi systems, and created rooms where you could sit down, order a drink, and actually listen. No skipping tracks. No shuffling. No algorithm deciding what came next. Just a great record, played through a great system, in a room full of people who could appreciate all of those elements coming together.

That idea stuck with us.

The Pretender is our take on the listening lounge: vintage equipment, carefully chosen records, good food, strong drinks, low lights, and a little less hurry.

A little vintage glamour, a table full of incredible food and uninterrupted time with your BFFs. The Fountain Room delivers a classic supper club vibe in the best way!

Located in the Bottleworks District, it’s the kind of place where you can settle in, order a few dishes for the table and spend the evening catching up with a friend over an incredible meal.

What we ordered?

🤍 Brie Brûlée with strawberry jam and a pistachio-dusted caramelized sugar crust
🤍 Truffle Fries
🤍 Potato Casserole
🤍 Petite Filet
🤍 Duck Confit Pasta with a light butter sauce
🤍 Chocolate Mousse Cake

The Brie brûlée was one of the best we’ve ever had, and trying the duck confit pasta for the first time was well worth it. Every flavor and texture worked together perfectly!

🪩🎶 Today, The Pretender officially opens its doors.

Every detail—from the music and design to the food, cocktails, and guest experience—was created with intention, and I couldn’t be more excited to finally share it with everyone.

This project wouldn’t exist without an incredible group of partners and people. A huge thank you to Phanomen/design for bringing our vision of a Japanese Kissa-Lounge to life through exceptional design, Uncanned Music for creating the soul of the space through an unforgettable listening experience, and Cambri Builders for turning a dream into a beautifully crafted reality.

I’m also incredibly grateful to our amazing team, and every member of our front-of-house and back-of-house teams.

Today is more than an opening day—it’s the beginning of a new chapter for Clancy’s Hospitality.

This isn’t your typical night out... low lighting, relaxed seating, and a world-class sound system turn The Pretender into a full-on immersive music experience you won’t find anywhere else. 🍸

This Japanese-inspired hi-fi listening lounge in downtown Noblesville was designed for immersive listening, with music taking center stage instead of simply playing in the background. It’s intimate, relaxed and such a fun setting for a girls’ night!

Here’s what we ordered:

🤍 Cheese Fondue with toasted pretzel, croutons, roasted tomatoes, grilled steak and Texas hot links

🤍 Beets & Peaches with goat cheese, arugula and candied pumpkin seeds

🤍 Truffle Sea Salt Kettle Chips

🤍Slow-roasted Short Rib with butternut squash risotto and red wine demi-glace

🤍 Blue Hawaii

The cheese fondue was so fun to share, and the short rib was definitely a favorite! Save this for your next night out and let us know what you’d order first.
