As the team at Craft Coast puts it, “The brewhouse is our canvas, and the beer is our art.”

And behind every masterpiece? Great ingredients, passionate farmers, dedicated maltsters, and brewers who bring it all together.

We caught up with the team at Craft Coast, in San Diego, to talk about their love for Canada Malting Euro Pils malt, the importance of quality ingredients, and the craft behind every pint.
Proud to play a part in bringing their art to life. 🌾

We’re kicking off our 2026 PORTRAIT OF A BREWER series with Blake Masoner, the founder of Craft Coast, a fast-growing, quintessentially San Diegan business. Head to our site (WWW.SANDIEGOBEER.NEWS) to get to know this veteran brewer better. And cheers to Hoppy Beer Gear for sponsoring this feature since its 2021 inception.

Exactly 5 years ago today we made the leap of faith and opened up @craftcoast to the public, and what a journey it has been! Soo much hard work and dedication has gone into it and we could not do it without the love and support from everybody. It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to say we created something that people enjoy daily, and we’re proud of that. Thank you to my family for always helping me and being by my side at all times and my friends for the constant support, love you all. To everyone in the industry: thank you for the support, the camaraderie, and the friendly competition. Be on the lookout, let’s see what the next 5 years hold🍻🤙🏻 by @blakethebrewer

Life has been crazy but I wouldn’t want it any other way! Took a long trip through a few state’s making memories and repping @craftcoast
.
.
First stop was Denver for GABF and to hang with the crew @westboundanddownbrewingco to drink our collab, Western Craft, that turned out straight 🔥. Although we didn’t bring home any hardware I’m extremely stoked for all my friends who did! We’ll get ‘em next year!
.
.
Second stop I headed to Portland and Camus, WA to brew with my good amigo Mike Hunsaker and his crew @grainsofwrath Hospitality was amazing and the beers were insane! Thanks for having me!
.
.
Last stop was a drive to Yakima, WA in my race car (pictured last, I almost died in that thing) for hop selection @yakimachief It was my first time up there in my career and it was an amazing experience! I got to select Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe T-90 and Cryo that will be used in all our beers moving forward. Thanks to my compadre @jl_scotty and Ryan from YCH for joining me at the selection table, truly an honor!

Huge thank you to everyone who continues to support me and my endeavors, I appreciate you all!🍻 by @blakethebrewer
