What better way to spend spooky season than chatting with Kyle Winkler (@bleakhousing). I’m sure you’ve seen it all on your timeline but his latest release, The Ship of Death, is freaking PHENOMENAL!

Growing up, I loved the movie Jumanji, so this book was right up my alley. Kyle’s spin on The Ship of Death is so unique because the story is told entirely through online forums, police reports, personal notes, and emails.

I won’t spoil it, but I will say you’ll be watching dark corners in your house for a while 😏.

A found fiction horror story about a cursed role-playing game. Erm… yes please!

That’s the idea behind @bleakhousing’s THE SHIP OF DEATH - and it prompts a delightful conversation between fellow nerds, about world-building, narrative mystery (and unanswered questions), and the joys of epistolary fiction. Plus, a ton of book and game recommendations.

Enjoy. All podcast platforms.

Went back to my hometown for the first time in a long time. Took a very long early morning walk along the river and through the downtown and one of my alma maters, Vincennes University. Lots to think about. by @bleakhousing

Finished this just now, @buehlmeister. Best book I’ve read all year. And it’s not even close. I’d read ten books set in this world. by @bleakhousing

Here at @literarycleveland Inkubator Writing conference at the Cleveland Public Library. Going to give a talk on pathways to publishing in an hour or so. Love seeing likeminded folks supporting books, writing, and a literate culture. by @bleakhousing

You, there! Are you looking for a "cosmically creepy" book that will MELT YOUR F*CKING MIND? Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 30, when we'll be celebrating the launch of Kyle Winkler's new book, THE SHIP OF DEATH. House of Leaves meets Jumanji in this brilliantly original and twisted novel composed entirely of found documents, following an unwitting couple ensnared by a sinister tabletop role-playing game

Head to the #linkinbio to RSVP for this spectacularly nightmarish event. And preorder the book for 10% off while you're at it? by @bleakhousing

THE DICE ROLL. DARKNESS ANSWERS.

A sleep stealing, possession inducing, cosmic tabletop horror, coming out later this month.

Cole and Lorraine playtest board games for some extra cash as they save up to buy a home. But after a series of bizarre coincidences, and signing a strange NDA, the couple finds on their porch a mysterious indie developer's tabletop role-playing game called The Ship of Death.

As its true sinister nature becomes clearer, the boundary between the game and reality begins to dissolve. . .

This is the perfect Autumn read (or listen!) for fans of horror, table-top gaming, RPG and mind-melting psychological fiction. by @bleakhousing
