I traffic in religion, arts, & academic subculture. Finishing a book on Joy Division & theological lamentation. Your post-punk counterweight to joy.

Forty years ago tonight, the Queen of New York, Ruth Polsky was killed in front of the Limelight Club by a runaway taxi. A music booker, she brought so many British bands to the States and into the lives of American youth hungry for a new sound and expression. She booked Joy Division and later showed Factory what NYC dance clubs could offer. The Haçienda and New Order was made possible in part by Ruth.

Rest in music, Ruth Polsky. Thank you. taken in The Limelight by @bleaktheology

Visiting the Ian Curtis exhibit on his 70th birthday. I've been asked to write a review of the exhibit for an academic journal. You have until July 22nd to see the handwritten lyrics of some of the most important songs of your life. taken in Voltz Clarke Gallery by @bleaktheology

Finally writing the last chapter of "Tears in Their Eyes: Joy Division as Theological Lamentation".

It's bleaker than you can imagine, tbh.

NBD. Just found my friend's book "Nerd Faith" by Rachel Wagner that just dropped in a supercool indie bookstore on NYC's LES. Congrats! Look at that company! Move over, Zizek, Marcus, and Andy! taken in P&T Knitwear Books & Podcasts by @bleaktheology
