We are thrilled to announce that the winner of our Audience Award 2026 for Best Short Film is 'Grace'

This year, we are delighted to offer €500 as a prize!

Featuring a stand out performance from lead actor Faidhnait Canning, 'Grace' explores love, consent, independence and the right to make your own decisions — issues that remain central to the lives of people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities in Ireland.

'Grace' is written and directed by Anna Rodgers, produced by Nuala Carr and the executive producer is Zlata Filipovic, for Invisible Thread Films and stars Fiadhnait Canning, Luca Malocco Mulville, Carrie Crowley, Jeanne Nicole Ní Áinle, Deirdre Morley and Ally Ní Chiaráin.

It was made in association with RTÉ Storyland, an initiative developed in partnership with Screen Ireland, which offers filmmakers the opportunity to tell impactful stories that reflect modern Ireland.

Congratulations to all involved! 👏

Just a reminder about our new supporters this year, the beautiful @shorelinehoteldonabate nestled on the coast above Donabate Beach, just a few minutes drive from the village.

With stunning views across the sea to Lambay Island, it the perfect spot to have a bite to eat, a coffee or a glass of wine in the sun before settling down for an evening of films at St. Patrick's Church of Ireland.

Give them a follow and check out their yummy menu!

The Bleeding Pig Film Festival wouldn't be what it is without our beloved Q&As!

We pride ourselves on being a warm, friendly, and informal space for filmakers to open up, share their stories, and connect with the audience while allowing for relaxed interaction on both sides. 🐷💬🎤🎞️

We are so lucky to have @SineadBrasil on board to host the Q&As again this year. Sinead's enthusiasm and passion really add a sparkle to the event ⭐🫶

Sinead is an award-winning broadcaster, producer, and communications professional with an 18-year career spanning radio, media, PR and storytelling. Still working in radio alongside her communications work, she also regularly hosts film festivals and live cinema events - championing independent film and emerging voices. She is currently producing her first feature documentary 'Drogheda Dolls' bringing together her love of film, community storytelling and socially driven stories.

Looking forward to welcoming a very talented team of filmmakers to the festival next week! by @bleedingpigff

Delighted to have Film Equipment Store / Hire on board again this year as supporters of the film festival, and they too have been with us since the start of our journey!

The festival has always been audience-focused, screening crowd-pleasing films and encouraging audience participation in filmmaker Q&As . As a result, we came up with the Audience Award for Best Short Film - voted for by the audience! 🏆

Every year, Film Equipment Store / Hire presents a rental voucher of €500 to the winning film which we are immensely grateful for! 🫶

Going forward,we'd would also love to offer a cash prize to the winners and other prizes for those who participate in the festival. If local companies out there are feeling generous- we'd be happy to discuss! :)

Next Wednesday 20th May at St. Patrick's Church of Ireland, Donabate, we will be screening TWO fantastic films 'as Gaeilge'.

Both films contain English subtitles, so this event is accessible for fluent speakers and 'learners' alike!

🎞️🎟️
'Tíolacadh' (20mins)
Directed by Sadbhb Larkin-Coyle and Sean Coyle and written by Sadhbh Larkin-Coyle , starring Larkin-Coyle, Mary Muray, Brendan Dunlea and Sorcha Ní Lorcáin

A story of tentative healing between a father and his daughter whose relationship has been strained and distant because of his infidelity and second marriage. Their reconnection is brought about through an unlikely bonding between Aine and her half-sister when Aine visits her old hometown in the Gaeltacht for the first time in many years.

'Aontas' ( 91mins)
Directed by Damian McCann and written by McCann and Sarah Gordon starring Carrie Crowley , Bríd Brennan, and Eva-Jane Gallagher

Three unlikely thieves, led by a woman on the verge of a breakdown, rob a rural Irish credit union. Opening in the tragic aftermath of the heist-gone-wrong, the story uses reverse chronology to unravel the events that led to this point.
