Celebrating the pivotal role landscape plays in creating enduring public places.🍃⁠ ⁠ Girraween National Park Visitor Precinct has been recognised as an award winner at the 2026 @aila_qld Awards for Tourism.⁠ ⁠ Bligh Tanner is proud to contribute to projects like this that honour and celebrate Australian native landscapes. Our design approach was guided by sensitivity to the surrounding environment, with a focus on minimising earthworks and disturbance. Working with the natural, remote setting meant taking inspiration from and incorporating the surrounding granite rock, while making use of locally sourced materials and native planting.⁠ ⁠ The precinct creates a welcoming experience for visitors while extending the character of Girraween National Park into the design, incorporating the park’s distinctive granite formations and native vegetation to reinforce the connection to the surrounding landscape from the moment visitors arrive.⁠ ⁠ Congratulations to our collborators @placedesigngroup and Lightbox Architecture + Interiors, who led the design of the precinct for Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.⁠ ⁠ #BlighTanner #Design #Innovation #CivilEngineering #StructuralEngineering #AILAAwards #Landscape #Architecture #GirraweenNationalPark #Tourism #Community #Parks #Recreation #Queensland⁠ ⁠ 📸 Photography by @lvkeray by @blightanner

Trading in our hi-vis for high energy!!🏅🏃⁠ ⁠ Bright and early Sunday morning, Bligh Tanner took to the streets to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Transurban Bridge to Brisbane.⁠ ⁠ It was fantastic to see so many members of our team lace up and take part in both the La Roche-Posay 10km and Foundation Blue Run 5km events. Joining 40,000 participants from across Australia and overseas, we experienced an incredible atmosphere as Brisbane came alive with energised and eager runners, walkers and wheelers.⁠ ⁠ Thank you to everyone involved in making the day such a success. Bligh Tanner is thrilled to share that the development of the @cityofgoldcoast Pizzey Park Southern Sporting Precinct and Junior Rugby League is progressing to construction.⁠ ⁠ Our journey with project partners @vee_design_ began in 2023, with Bligh Tanner leading the civil and structural engineering design. ⁠ ⁠ Located in Miami on the Gold Coast, the project presented several challenges, with the site subject to local and tidal flooding, contaminated land and complex geotechnical conditions. Working closely with our collaborators, we developed a design solution that addresses the necessary infrastructure, stormwater management and earthworks requirements to ensure a functional and resilient sporting precinct.⁠ ⁠ Congratulations to the project team on reaching this exciting milestone. The Jukambi Sports Precinct at John Paul College has been recognised as a finalist for the Sports & Recreation category at the 27th Australian Timber Design Awards🎉⁠ ⁠ The precinct exemplifies the possibilities and benefits of engineered timber. Its lighter structural system enhances site safety and construction quality while reducing foundation costs. Construction is well underway on the Logan Reserve Schools project. Working with @hutchies1912, Bligh Tanner is providing Civil and Structural engineering services for the new secondary and special schools. The 25-hectare education precinct will include 22 new buildings.⁠ ⁠ External works are also advancing. The project's broader scope includes over two kilometres of road upgrades, the construction of a new signalised intersection, new bus stops, an upgrade to an existing priority-controlled intersection, and associated drainage and utility infrastructure. As an annual tradition here at Bligh Tanner, our cycling crew participated in the MS Brissie to the Bay ride for 2026. Massive effort from the team this year with 15 team members across the 130km, 100km and 60km courses braving the chilly early start and taking on a challenging ride for a great cause. ⁠ ⁠ Having the opportunity to start and finish the ride at one of our projects, the Brisbane International Cycle Centre at Murarrie Recreation Reserve, made the day even more special.⁠ ⁠ Thank you to @msqueensland for organising such a fun day and for the work they do to raise awareness and help Queenslanders with neurological conditions live better lives.⁠ ⁠ #BlighTanner #MSBrissietotheBay #MSQueensland #Brisbane #Cycling by @blightanner

Great to be at the Water NZ Stormwater Conference this year and see the momentum building across the sector.   A big congratulations to Charlotte Arcus for winning the Best Poster Award, and to our @blightanner team for being shortlisted for the Best Paper Award, “All Dressed Up With Nowhere To Flow: The Curious Case of Fitzgibbon’s Alternative Water Supplies” — exploring the regulatory, governance and institutional barriers to decentralised alternative water supply, and the key lessons learnt that Australia and Aotearoa can draw from for advancing water security.   We also heard excellent presentations from Riley de Jong and Sean Hinton at Bligh Tanner and from Tonkin + Taylor’s Mark Hooker, Tessa Allan, and Lisa Dowson, alongside a strong programme of workshops and panels exploring how stormwater reform is taking shape in practice. Alex Cartwright’s paper on bridging the gap between systems and responsibilities to better manage risk was another highlight.   One of the strongest themes throughout the conference was the shift from reactive flood recovery to more proactive risk management. With flooding events becoming more frequent and severe, the need for sustained investment in stormwater infrastructure is increasingly hard to ignore, particularly compared with the regulatory focus on drinking water and wastewater.   It was encouraging to see the progress made across the industry in the last year, including discussions around potential revisions to rainfall considerations and how organisations are working toward meeting statutory requirements under reform.   #waterinfrastructure #floodresilience #climateadaptation #stormwatermanagement by @blightanner
