I had the awesome honor of being commissioned to create this animation to help the legendary Chicago Blackhawks @nhlblackhawks celebrate their epic 100th anniversary! A full century of grit, glory, and unforgettable moments—so bringing that legacy to life through motion was both a wild ride and a total blast. Let’s just say, the feathers were flying (in the best way)!
I couldn’t have done it without Christos and Marilena from my long time partners and @n0m1nt.
Make sure to crank the audio for Combustion’s magic!

❤️🤍💚🐂 🛵 MARNI — ROME STORE OPENING
2018 — EPISODE 4 — Finding Rome
#PinkSalt 🛼 #10YearsCountdown

🦋 Inspired by the spirit of the Artisti di Piazza del Popolo — the protagonists of Italian Pop Art born in Rome in the early 1960s — Ariel Costa aka BlinkMyBrain 🧠 created an elegant yet surreal universe where rhythm, geometry and optical illusions compose the journey of a stylised character in her search for Marni. 🔎👀

Built as an adventure quest rather than a conventional story, each scene exists independently, while editing and an original soundtrack — also signed by the artist — tie everything together into a mesmerising visual experience. 👁️

Entirely in black and white, with only subtle hints of colour appearing at the very end, the film combines a slight retro touch, an exceptional use of shades and solid tints, and Marni’s bespoke papier–mâché bull. 🐂

If you enjoy seeing animation archives, this post is for you.

For this project, I designed around 50 different magazine and newspaper pages, all inspired by analog craftsmanship and vintage aesthetics. I scanned more than 30 magazines and newspapers to extract authentic textures, carefully matching the grain and print characteristics of magazines and the halftone patterns of newspapers.

All of this was created to celebrate what many consider the greatest soccer team in history: Brazil’s legendary 1970 World Cup squad.
