As a first-generation Mexican-American woman, earning both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees is not just my personal achievement — it is a tribute to my family, my roots, and the people who shaped the woman I am today.

There was no roadmap for me. No footsteps to follow. As the first in my family to pursue higher education, I walked into college with nothing but determination, cultural pride, and a dream. Years later, I walk away with not one, but two degrees.

From a very young age, my father taught me a lesson that would define my life: education is the key to independence. He instilled in me the belief that no one could ever take away what I learned — that knowledge was power, security, and freedom. His words planted the seed that grew into this journey.

When I turned 21, I was able to sponsor my mother’s immigration. Since then, she has lived with me, offering strength, love, and a daily reminder of where I come from. Her sacrifices have fueled me, and her presence has grounded me through every season of this journey.

Alongside me every step of the way — through my Bachelor’s and my Master’s — has been my husband. Through late nights, exams, and moments of doubt, he believed in me even when I struggled to believe in myself. His unwavering support transformed ambition into reality.

And then there is my daughter — my why. She has been my greatest motivation. Everything I have done, I have done with her in mind — to show her that she can be anything, and that no dream is too big when it is rooted in love, resilience, and faith.

I am the first in my family to earn a college degree.
And now, a Master’s.

This isn’t just my story — it is my family’s story.
A story of breaking cycles, building legacies, and choosing courage over comfort.

Soy Mexicana. Soy mujer. Soy madre. Soy esposa. Y soy la primera en mi familia en alcanzar estos logros académicos — y estoy abriendo el camino para quienes vienen después. 🎓❤️
