After all of the Year 1 physical recovery progress made i decided that it was time to shift the rehabilitation focus towards my career and cognitive rehabilitation as a very much working age stroke survivor (now 32) , therefore I am excited to announce I have just commenced a PhD at the @uniofsurrey University of Surrey’s CAV- LAB, Guildford where I am researching safety assurance in autonomous/Automated/Driverless vehicles. I build on a more than decade of hands-on experience in the automotive industry as a @mercedesbenz qualified Heavy Vehicle Engineer. My goal is to become a professional Safety onsultant in Autonomous Vehicles after completing my PhD taken in University of Surrey by @blokevsstroke

Today marks exactly 1 year since my Stroke. Whilst I’ve managed to make a remarkable physical recovery against all expectations. And have improved my mobility endlessly from wheelchair user to fully independent walker within 1 year. Big day of physio today with 3 sessions in 1 day!! 😮‍💨 took the facilities at @vimhealthcare for a spin inc. reformer with with no mercy from the amazing Bex Walters ❤️. Who would have thunk they took the whole top right section of my skull off 9 months ago 😂 taken in VIM Health by @blokevsstroke

Yesterday I received an FES assessment for an Oddstock Medical Device aimed at retraining the brain to improve walking sequencing, improve Dorsiflexion range of movement long term and enable the permanent removal of the AFO Splint mechanical aid I had been so reliant on to mobilise safely. The assessment proved successful and I was Duly Awarded the device under the expertise of the Wonderful Vicky Knight (Physiotherapist) running the LV REHABILITATION CLINIC IN Chichester. Thank you to the amazing NHS for providing funding and providing continuous support to my long-termRehabilitation 🤍 by @blokevsstroke

Just to let yall know I’m still alive here’s a compilation of recent videos from the rehab period archives 7 months after they(neurosurgeons) temporarily removed a large bone flap from my skull shortly before kindly replacing it with staples as a ‘floating bone’ to relieve elevated intracranial pressure due to severe Cerebral oedema (swelling on the brain). A few recent trips to A&E after suffering some suspected typical vasovagal events with pending open referrals to Neurology to review but otherwise now living semi-independently, mobile and just purely focused on rebuilding my life (from scratch)Huge thanks to the highly specialist NeuroRehab team at the Bradley unit Woking for their exceptional therapeutic and medical treatments in helping me get to where I am now ( yes even you Becky) ❤️ by @blokevsstroke
