Wantis is an adaptation of Martu wangka ‘wantikaja’, meaning women. Artist and emerging curator Sylvia Wilson returns to Port Hedland’s Courthouse Gallery for the second in the Powerhouse Wanti exhibition series, featuring Martmuli artists Gladys ‘Kuru’ Bidu, Yikartu Bumba (Petersen), Beverley Rogers and Betty Whyoulter.

Co-editor Zali Morgan spoke with Sylvia Wilson about the leadership and arts practice of the four strong women telling their Martu stories in the show, during a visit to Newman earlier this year.
