my blurb is ‘as i go about my day’ but i’ve rather lost the habit of posting as i go along. so here’s a few incidentals picked up along the way in the last couple of weeks. ( in chronological order) by @blurred_imo
last day today .. ‘liminal minimal marginal’ Part of PhotoHastings Photography Festival 2026 @photohastings @electro_studios_project_space Seaside Road St Leonards-on-Sea ‘Examining the phenomenon of spaces and places that are perceptually on the peripheries of things’ here some images from roundabout, and from the show.. * Interim blue * Interim pink  * Interim white ‘hoardings are temporary perimeters for spaces in waiting or in transition. newly erected or freshly painted they are a blank canvas, lending themselves to be photographed as chromatic abstractions, also an invitation for billposting or graffiti. the consequent patchwork of overpainting leads to a cycle of erasure & re-assertion, so hoardings themselves are in a state of flux or transience, slipping between what was and what will be.’ curated / beautifully put together by Roy Exley @roy.exley - also in the show, with Imogen Bloor @blurred_imo Grant Braithwaite @gjbraithwaite Alex Brattell @alexanderbrattell Derek Cottrell @derekcottrell Daniela Exley @danielaexley_photography Raffi Jacobs @raffijacobs Ian Land @ian_m_land Jeremy Llewellyn-Jones @jeremyljones Anne Lydiat @anneonrock Dan Percy @danpercy.studio Julia Spicer @dolores_rocket Ben Stezaker @benstezaker Agnieszka Szuba @tales_of_mist_and_light Jill White @jillwhite2022 Gary Willis @garywillis.snaps photohastings.org #photohastings #photography #photographyfestival #stleonardsonsea image 10 @thelittledugoutcafe by @blurred_imo
like spheres, i’m drawn to circles … & here’s a few from my collection.. images 2 & 3 were my contribution to the exhibition #opposites for @photohastings photography festival, which is now on through october, tho’ this particular show has just finished. creatively conceived & curated by @garywillis.snaps for the corridor venue, taking you past a series of diptychs, no names, no texts until the end ... a lovely show to be part of . i found everyone’s contributions intriguing. just a small number shown here: 1. selected collated circles by me 2&3. fire & ice by me 4&5. what & who 6.@blurred_imo 7.@nealewillis 8.@raffijacobs 9.@alexanderbrattell 10-13 corridor views showing @anneonrock @ian_m_land @garywillis.snaps @danpercy.studio @dolores_rocket (julia spicer) 14. @electro_studios_project_space which hosted the show by @blurred_imo
walking to, through and from a wistful personal farewell to #gabrielswharf on the south bank on sunday, the last day before it’s closed down. i’ve visited this lovely little vibrant oasis many times since my child was young. one friend lives very close by & another @henriettaparkknitwear had a shop there for many years selling beautiful knits . the space was unusually quiet, some units already vacated, and the mood melancholic .. gabriel wharf has housed at least 20 independent businesses since it grew from a derelict site in 1988; apparently the current site has always been ‘temporary’ .... it’s due to be demolished & regenerated by Coin Street https://coinstreet.org/about-us (a not for profit social enterprise) though what the future plans are doesn’t seem to have been disclosed yet.. it would be a crying shame if it turns into another high rise development, with characterless, corporate, commercial space .. #gabrielswharf @gabriels_wharf #youdontknowwhatyougottillitsgone by @blurred_imo
truly lovely day with @pearlfishhh @peterjohnfish bus from dalston to clapton, a walk, then on the #leariver to hackney wick .. the sun shone. inevitably a bit of a focus on reflections …a bit of pal solidarity evident too first two pictures @speakeasydalston & @dalstongarden by @blurred_imo
i’ve been photographing hoardings for some time .. & as per my recent post, some are currently on view at west greenwich library (until Friday 25th Sept) with the greenwich & se london group (#GLIP) of @london_independent_photography meanwhile @photohastings has an october long photo festival and i’m very happy to be in a couple of exhibitions. here is one image from 2021 & i’m showing 3 other hoarding pictures in ‘liminal, minimal, marginal’ curated by @roy.exley it promises to be a fascinating show, with so many interesting photographers/artists participating. ‘Examining the phenomenon of spaces and places that are perceptually on the peripheries of things – giving the viewer pause for thought as the peripheral often passes us by, much to our detriment. The show highlights the perceptual significance of the apparently insignificant’ Part of PhotoHastings Photography Festival 2026 @photohastings Open: - Fri 2 – Sun 4 Oct - Fri 9 – Sun 11 Oct 11am – 5pm Opening Event: Fri 2 Oct, 6 – 9pm  Electro Studios Project Space Seaside Road St Leonards-on-Sea TN38 0AL @electro_studios_project_space With work from: - Imogen Bloor @blurred_imo - Grant Braithwaite @gjbraithwaite - Alex Brattell @alexanderbrattell - Derek Cottrell @derekcottrell - Daniela Exley @danielaexley_photography - Raffi Jacobs @raffijacobs - Ian Land @ian_m_land - Jeremy Llewellyn-Jones @jeremyljones - Anne Lydiat @anneonrock - Dan Percy @danpercy.studio - Julia Spicer @dolores_rocket - Ben Stezaker @benstezaker - Agnieszka Szuba @tales_of_mist_and_light - Jill White @jillwhite2022 - Gary Willis @garywillis.snaps Image by Dan Percy @danpercy.studio photohastings.org #photohastings #photography #photographyfestival #hastings by @blurred_imo
saturday 12th sept only 11-5 pm … come along to experience the joy of 30 tabletop ‘museums’ . i’m prone to gathering, accumulating things in various ‘categories’ which amounts to collecting i suppose, albeit sometimes with a peculiar internal logic ( a bit like my photos) so i applied to this event on a whim .. delighted to be accepted and to show my ‘small spheres’. i can’t wait to see others’ collections of intriguing, humorous, captivating things .. @artworkersguild 6 Queen Square, London, WC1N 3AT #tabletopmuseum #smallspheres #repetitiondifference by @blurred_imo

#myeclipsephoto 19.13 hours, sitting at the end of our #peckhamgarden, looking west. . we thought the high points near us would be busy, so we chose to experience what we could from home … the sun had already gone over the roof of the house but the skies are clear. we feel the air chill, and sense the light dipping, then marginally brighten again, despite impending dusk.. photos on my i-phone were hopeless, but this wood pigeon flew over at the peak time, and by utter chance i snapped it. it was heading for our pond, to drink, in this heat. by @blurred_imo
