🍂🌞 autumn has officially started, but before we move forward and embrace the new season, let’s take a little recap of our first blurred lines event “Reclaiming Our Bodies” at @hosekcontemporary .
Back in early summer we connected different artworks, showcased amazing artists and welcomed a great audience.
Let’s have a last dip into memories of sweaty skin, cold drinks and warm wind. Celebrating art, community and presence.

Starting with a trailer, focusing on the performances, we will share more impressions throughout the next days!

„𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀“?

“I wanted to be part of “Reclaiming Our Bodies” because the world has been tossing us all around, wobbly puppets in a weird game of politics and terrible fate. In my particular case, I’ve been slowly losing authority over my own body and movement in the past years. My bones and my spirit have been fighting for the opposite things they both wish for me and I am at loss to whom to be beyond disability. For the most part, my decisions were a reaction to something, agency and autonomy cloudy turned into cloudy ideas. This action seems the first one in a long time I made not part of a chain of consequences after the tossing. Which seems incredibly fitting. “

𝗔𝗹𝗺𝗮 𝗔𝗹𝗺𝗲𝗶𝗱𝗮 is a migrant non-binary filmmaker living in Berlin. They studied Visual Arts in Portugal and have worked the majority of their stay in Berlin in between galleries, artists and film productions. They used to dance. For the last years Alma has been dragging themselves through blood analysis, mri’s and consultations for the pains of being alive. They don’t dance anymore but they make videos.

We are happy to have Alma in our team for the 1st event organised by 𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀.

„𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀“?

„“Reclaiming Our Bodies” is a space to get in touch with shared and different points of view. I am looking forward to learning something new and see personal experiences expressed by others. I wish for it to be an encounter of supporting each other, not just as artists, but as humans. Watching the growing limitation of spaces in Berlin to gather and express makes me really worried, and I think it’s even more important to work against this feeling and reclaim what is ours! I am looking forward to collaborating with all these amazing artists and creating one meaningful, living, artsy organism by intertwining our work.“

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗴 is a Berlin-based German dancer and choreographer. Her work is deeply influenced by reflections on, and questions about, the patriarchal and capitalist society she inhabits, while staying closely connected to the influence of music and rhythm. She draws inspiration from various forms of human relationships and places strong emphasis on art as a means of strengthening communal skills. In her artistic research, she regards communication and exchange as key tools, using interviews and workshops to support and enrich her creative process.

We are happy to have Marlene in our team for the 1st event organised by 𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀.

„𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀“?

„For me, “Reclaiming Our Bodies” is both a political and deeply personal act. It means taking back agency in spaces where our bodies have been historically controlled, marginalized, or displaced by systems of power like racism, xenophobia, heteronormativity, and patriarchy.
As someone who has experienced migration, I understand how complex and urgent this act of reclamation becomes. It’s not just about crossing geographical borders , it’s about navigating cultural, emotional, and identity-based ones too. The migrant body carries memories, trauma, resilience, and longing. Reclaiming it is a way to resist erasure and to affirm presence, dignity, and voice.
This project speaks directly to that need, to tell our stories through art, to transform experience into power, and to create space where our bodies are not only seen, but celebrated on our own terms.“

𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗿 𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗮 is an emerging dance artist based in Berlin. His work explores experiences of living as a person of color, migrant, and queer creative, deeply connected to their Latino-North African heritage and queerness. Munirs early dance experiences were shaped by his Mexican and Moroccan roots and the cultural context of Mexico. In recent years, Munirs training has focused primarily on contemporary dance, with ballet, modern, flamenco, and other styles as supporting techniques.

„I’m excited to participate in this space that invites people to engage with different perspectives and to fight for their bodily autonomy. I think creating a collective vision such as « Reclaiming our bodies » and giving a shape to utopias help materialize them into tangible realities.“

𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗱𝗲́𝗲 (he/they) is a French photographer and visual artist.
He documents fiction with his camera acting as an intermediary between him and the world, enabling him to connect with others and build community. Whether performed or in its intimacy, he aims to contribute to building an archive of trans people, non-binary creatures, queer communities, and non-normative existences. His artisanal practice of analog mediums brings slowness, intentionality and honesty to a world saturated by an intensive production of images and revives the value of photography.

„𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀“?

“Collaborating with a group of multidisciplinary artists feels urgent under our current oppressive government. I look forward to creating spaces where movement, visuals, and community can become acts of collective resistance. By coming together, we can better confront censorship of marginalized bodies and reassert our democracy. Ultimately, this event serves a way to reconnect art with activism and solidarity.“

𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴 is a first-generation Chinese American visual artist born in New York. Her parents immigrated from Hong Kong and the Dominican Republic, and she was raised between the USA and Hong Kong. Her work examines the dysphoria around the constructs of identity, culture, migration, and belonging. Using observations, memories, relics, and references in history and literature, her paintings seek to question memory to understand generational trauma and work towards vulnerability. She is currently based in Berlin, Germany.

I strongly resonate with the event’s title and intention. In today’s world, reclaiming our bodies, identities, choices, and freedom of expression feels more urgent than ever.
I’m grateful to be part of a platform that uplifts young artists from diverse backgrounds. Spaces like this are essential—for visibility, dialogue, and community through art.

𝗞𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝗸𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗻 is a Danish contemporary dancer and choreographer based in Berlin. His work draws inspiration from everyday life, social movements, and contemporary cultural trends. He often explores themes of gender roles and queer identity. Kaspers choreographic process is highly collaborative, utilizing task-based exercises to generate movement and cultivate an organic creative flow.
