What They Saw

I walked into McKinley Lakeside High School this summer expecting to teach photography. Six weeks later, I realized the camera was only the beginning.

Between lessons on exposure and composition came conversations about life, opportunity, perspective, and how a camera could become a tool to change things.

What They Saw is an open letter to the students who stayed curious, the educators who continue showing up, and those willing to help create more opportunities.

Finding the Light

Some artists bring energy into a room. Jo @justjaneece brings light.

A gifted recording artist and creative force in Chicago, Jo has stepped in front of my lens several times, each session carrying the same authenticity, confidence, and effortless style that defines her music. Whether we’re creating visuals for an upcoming release or simply exploring new creative ideas, she shows up with a spirit that’s easy to photograph and impossible to ignore.

For this session, we leaned into warmth, texture, and personality—allowing her natural presence to lead the story. The result is a collection of images that feel much like her music: soulful, expressive, and undeniably cool.

Chicago continues to produce incredible talent, and Jo is one of those artists worth paying attention to.

Red // Power // Precision

Some colors whisper. Red never does.

For this collaborative session with Mindy (@mindynutran), we explored the tension between beauty and danger. The color red became the foundation of the story—symbolizing power, passion, confidence, love, and the willingness to be seen. Paired with a sword, the imagery takes on another meaning: strength with purpose. Not aggression, but control.

Mindy brought the vision to life through her wardrobe styling, while I assisted with props, accessories, and shaping the visual direction. Together we created a series that feels both elegant and fearless.

Red isn’t just a color. It’s a statement.
