I was super late getting to the 45th annual @naiatn powwow so I missed most of the dancing and Sun - also missed my @nowatnpl.edmondsonpike people. I didn’t miss my #navajotaco, which hit the spot! Then I wandered the vendors before the evening finale.

One day I’ll learn how to use the camera settings so I can get better iPhone pics.

I hadn’t been to a powwow since my girls were young…pre COVID. It was good to be back. I feel a sense of wonder and comfort when I go to these kind of cultural events. Cultural, ethnic, and national groups can be so different but then you see so many similarities to how your own group does things. There is so much to learn and enjoy from people who aren’t like you. ⚫️🔴🟡⚪️

I am listening to this stellar @officialallmanbrothers show, that I got for free from the archival “tape” trading network… #livemusicarchive. A few notes
1. Thanks to the #tapers who do the work and make sure these things are distributed fairly.
2. I love how @oteil_burbridge sounds like a different player in every ensemble he’s in.
3. It sounded like @thewarrenhaynes was pulling out some @officiallarrymccray licks during #skyiscrying.

Two Nashville families are desperately searching for their children.

Amaya Allen and Zidan Leotaud, both 15 years old, have been missing for almost 48 hours. Their last known location was Stratford STEM Magnet School in East Nashville, and they were last seen together.

Amaya is 5’4” and 140 to 150 pounds. She was last seen wearing an all-black outfit with black and pink combat boots, carrying a black book bag with pink zippers. Her hair was styled in two afro puffs.

Zidan is 5’6” and 150 to 160 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair with red highlights. He was last seen wearing a red hoodie, gray Gap shorts, and white Air Force shoes. He has 08/29/11 tattooed on his right hand.

Their families are asking everyone in Nashville and surrounding areas to share this. Someone may have seen them or know something. If you have any information about Amaya or Zidan, call Metro Nashville Police at (615) 862-8600 or call 911.

Zidan hasn’t been seen since Thursday, and his mother is asking Nashville for help finding him.

He is 5’6” with brown eyes and goes to Stratford STEM Magnet High School. He was last seen wearing a red sweater, grey Gap shorts, and white Air Force shoes.

One detail that could help: he has his date of birth, 08/29/11, tattooed on his right hand.

My first Woody experience was in absentia. Doug, his dad, came into the #Donelson #turtlesrecordsandtapes shortly after Allen became the bassist for the @officialallmanbrothers. One of my coworkers mentioned that I was a fan, and Doug obviously told Allen, because at some point in the next few weeks, I came into work and found this business card waiting for me at the counter. I finally got to meet him when he came in looking for the Mahavishnu Orchestra, which our tiny store didn't have. Fast forward to when I traveled for and taped @govtmule shows. I got to hang out before and after the shows, and he kept visiting the record store where I worked when he was off tour, even after I moved to the #blockbustermusic on West End Ave., which isn't close to Donelson.

He was such a good guy; so nice. He was a great storyteller and knew so much about music. He always left me with a smile on my face.

So let me get this straight. You've got the guy who wrote “Layla” while in a band named Derek and the Dominoes on stage with a guy named after said band and a woman who was born the day that band’s album was released, who are married and have their own band that made an album based on the same Persian story about Layla and Majnun but from different perspectives.
