p: Simone Isip is a fiber and community-based artist based in Brooklyn and Baltimore. Their work; a wide array of textile, installation, sculpture on the body, performance, and community organizing, is motivated by a desire for human connection amidst the complexities of navigating the presence and histories of colonialism, extraction, and exploitation.

Artist Highlight: “ Bao Nguyen is a performance and visual artist based in Baltimore and raised in Vietnam. They improvise through movement, action, voice and words to unravel a range of emotions. Recently, they recited Cardi B’s “WAP”, rolled in a blanket while being naked, ate soil, scolded the audience and asked for their keys. Bao messes up the context of DIY and institutional spaces they perform in to uncover collective intimacy, openness and vulnerability.”

🍀”Set in the Monopoly world where hierarchy, exploitation, and corruption are fundamental, our collection reclaims the original purpose of the game [The Landlord’s Game, Lizzie Magie]. The performance follows the plot of the Greek tragedy Antigone, a story of conviction and defiance of law. With the characters doubling as monopoly pieces, the two worlds collide in a reflection of our own hierarchical system where justice is absent. In a moment where morals and law come face to face, a decision is made that disrupts the social contract.

Would you dare defy the law for justice?
Or will you keep your tongue in leash.”

LOULIE is a force behind this project along with collaborator @simoneisip. The incredible fierce and talented, and wonderful duo are the masterminds behind the initial Monopoly idea, they pitched a highly detailed idea to us and we wound up creating a path forward together! Loulie and Simone with the assistance of some incredible artists, Ian and Rachel, built a striking set of costumes, designs, theater props, and set pieces ALLL out of recycled materials, cardboard, with the help of some 3d printing for the amazing Golden Cane of Skulls…. #baltimoreartists #baltimoretheater #micafashionshow #nowar #artistsagainstapartheid by @bmorefreetheater
