Which colour won? Black (Tina) or white (Will)? The most recent addition to my collection - a very old “classic”, Othello!

As I ask “what is the best Uwe Rosenberg game”? I show off my Uwe Kallax cube!

🌾 Agricola
⛵️ Nusfjord
🦇 Atiwa

Plus another few non-Uwe games to make up the numbers:

🍊 Finca
🌱 Cellulose
🙏🏼 The Great Commission

Two different days.
Two plays of the same game.
Two very different experiences.

Even when you play a great game (like Finca), I find that the mood and attitude of the players very much affects the enjoyment of a game.

I played Finca on Saturday evening with #TabletopTina and my son and it was tense and somehow not as enjoyable as I’d hoped. We played again on Sunday afternoon and it was a much better experience.

Yo homeboiz and laydeez, which is tha best game in this stack?

I got lotsa stacks…

This sandwich starts with a liddle bitta Clank at the bottom, topped with some Dune, Scythe, Hoth, Arnak, and sprinkled with a dusting of Underwater Cities and a Takenoko on top!

A four player game of Sagrada where the dice were weighted for “4s”! In this last week I played plenty of great games with some of my favourite people 🇸🇰

Maybe the crown is slipping…?! 👑

I have only won two of my last eight games of Splendor! Surely that must mean I’m losing my touch? Maybe I need to rethink or adapt my strategy…

FRIDAY:
With our Slovak family members visiting, when in Bath I had to visit @thirsty_meeples and walked out with an almost inevitable purchase - Railroad Tiles. I had heard this game was good and it was reassuring to hear the girl on the till say “Oh this is a great game - I played it the other day”.

SATURDAY:
I somehow fell asleep while reading the rulebook! 😴😄

SUNDAY:
We played it tonight as we visited our family’s holiday home nearby, and all very much enjoyed our first playthrough!

The boy’s 9th birthday weekend included a couple of games of Harmonies, the second of which we played in the mini private room of our favourite pub on Sunday afternoon.

#TabletopTina showed us how confident she was of victory as she read the paper between turns!!

We don’t play any board game every day, but for the first quarter of 2026 it felt like we did so with Harmonies, but every time we play it now I’m reminded just what a remarkably great game it is!

I’m so sorry Terraforming Mars, I have neglected our relationship. I hope you don’t mind if I take your younger sister for a spin before we renew our acquaintance? “Come on Dicey, get in the car…”

You can see from the delighted look on their faces, the Winner of the Root Expansions World Cup is:

HOMELAND 🐸🏆🦇

===========

Homeland prevailed over Riverfolk with 66.7% of the votes, and is a worthy champion.

(Watch this space for the third-place playoff between MARAUDERS and UNDERWORLD!)
