🥊 #BoardGameFaceOff - Numbers in Games 🥊

💥 Round 2 - Number in Words 💥

It’s time for round two in this month's Board Game Face Off! Last week we were narrowly beaten by the wonderful Chris from @magicandmeeples, with a game that we had never heard of before. This week, following the theme of Number in Games, we are each choosing our favourite game with the Number in Words. No numerical symbols this week, just pure letters!

We have gone with my favourite solo game of all time, One for Sorrow which is made by the incredible @kevmakesgames. If you haven’t seen it, it is a one handed solo game where you are trying to get your magpies in order to banish the Spectre of Sorrows before they curse everything. It is such a satisfying puzzle that you can literally take anywhere, and after one game you will not be able to put it down until you win.

Chris has chosen One Two Many Rabbits, again another game we haven’t heard of so go check out her post to see why she chose it.

You can let us know which game gets your vote on our story now!

Thanks to @boardgamebeacon for running the Face Off challenge and this month the theme was chosen by us.

I am incredibly proud because I got to choose the theme for this June’s #boardgamefaceoff. Things like this are always tough for me, but I had a rough idea of what I wanted. Something contrasting, yet perfect for summer:
🥁Heatwave🥵
& Brain Freeze🥶🥁
I can’t wait to see who joins in and how everyone interprets the theme! The challenge was started by @boardgamebeacon

This month, I also have a rematch with the wonderful Abbie from @do.u.even.game Our first match is 🔥hot vs. hot🔥. She picks 🥵Come Sail Away🥵 I am so excited to take on this challenge with her this month!

My game of choice is Imhotep by @kosmos_verlag @kosmos_games . As the name suggests, it is set in Egypt. You gather building materials and have to transport them to the monuments via boats. But there’s a catch when it comes to bringing your architectural vision to life: you aren’t the only one deciding where the boats go. Your opponents have a say too, and of course, they have their own plans. It leads to a fierce competition in the scorching heat of Egypt.🥵🫠

Have you played either of these two games? Let me know in the comments! The first voting is up in my stories!😚

Round: 3️⃣ in May 🌏Countries🌍
The last Face off is Australia (Ines) vs. New Zealand (Bo).

My opponent, Bo @punchablegames chose Legacy of Yu. This game looks outstanding. I want to say thank you from the bottom of heart to Bo. You were the perfect face off buddy.🫶🏼

My pick for today is 🐢Australis🐢 @kosmos_games @kosmos_verlag The setting is beautiful and and you dive deep into the reef.🪸 The mechanism is also great.
The last voting is in my story. Choose your favorite game - are you Team Australia or Team New Zealand?😊

Do you have a favorite country you like to travel to or would like to travel to someday? I don’t really enjoy going on vacation🙁, so that’s a difficult question for me to answer personally. But from a gaming perspective, that’s a completely different story.😁 That’s why I’m so excited about the current 🌏Countries🌍 theme. Bo and I are traveling to the USA for our second duel.

My opponent, Bo @punchablegames chose Parks.🐻🌲 It’s not only a great game, but it also takes us to the various beautiful national parks of the USA. I have to admit, today I would choose Bo’s game. I’m really happy🥰 to be able to have this board game duel with him. The voting of today is in Bo‘s story.

My pick for today is 🌊Santa Monica.😎 @skelliggames I love the game components and the atmosphere it evokes. You’re transported to sunny California🌞, right to the Santa Monica Pier. I find this beautiful: sunshine, lots of people, tons of joy, and lots of fun! Even if you only get a glimpse of this feeling while playing, the game has done everything right.🤩

It is May and I’m ready for a new board game duel. But this isn’t my first time facing my opponent. I have a rematch against Bo @punchablegames which I’m really looking forward to. Let’s get started with round 1 of #boardgamefaceoff @boardgamebeacon The theme is great, it’s about 🌏Around the world🌏 and our first boardgame stop is in Japan. 🤗

🥊My opponent is the kind Bo. @punchablegames I’m very very happy to have him as my faceoff buddy. He chose a game by a Japanese game designer, and I love his choice. It’s called ☕️Coffee Roaster☕️. Do you know this boardgame?

🤼‍♀️My choice for this #boardgamefaceoff is 🎑Tajuto⛩️ @abacusspiele
This game transports you to another world. When Buddhism arrived in Japan, Prince Shotoku commissioned monks to build a village with beautiful gardens and eight pagodas. Here, you take on the role of one of these monks and strive to attain the highest level of enlightenment. By strategically building the pagodas, you can become the guardian of this pilgrimage site.

The voting for the first round is in my story, and honestly, I couldn’t decide myself today. But what’s your favorite Japan?🇯🇵

Unfortunately, today is already the last duel of our #boardgamefaceoff in April. As you know the challenge is started my @boardgamebeacon and the topic 🦒𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝟑𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬🦒 is from @boardgamesafterdark

My third choice is 🦒Next Station Paris🦒 @hcm_kinzel . This game comes in different versions. With this fantastic and entertaining flip-and-write game, you can travel to different cities and explore them by tram/subway/streetcar. The goal is to map out the best routes. We really like this series.

Abbies @do.u.even.game choice is 🦒Fish Tank🦒. I really love games with this setting. I‘m excited as well which game is your favorite for the final in 🦒𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝟑𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬🦒.

➡️Voting is in my story!
Can you recommend another game with a similar playtime? 😊

What’s your favorite game that can be played in under 30 minutes? Or do you only like real time-wasters that take at least 3 hours per game? 😜
Today we’re starting round two of the April Boardgame Face Off #boardgamefaceoff @boardgamebeacon - the theme comes from @boardgamesafterdark

For round two, I’m going with one of our favorite little card games for the family 🐰Allegra🐰 @dreihasenspiele

The game concept is based on a Golfgame. We have face-down cards in a grid in front of us. Then we have to turn over one card or exchange a face-up/face-up card with a card from the draw pile. Whoever has the fewest points at the end wins.🏅 The special twist in 🐰Allegra🐰 is that we always share the two outer rows with the player sitting on the corresponding side.⚡️ This can be both a blessing and a curse, because of course, the other player also wants to have as few points as possible there. BUT there’s also the possibility of annoying other players with bad cards in the shared row. 😅🤫🤣 It’s incredibly fun!

Abbie @do.u.even.game is going into the second duel with 🐸Pondscape🐸. 🤼🥊 The colorful artwork definitely appeals to me. If you check out her post, feel free to vote for your favorite in her story!

This is the 𝓐𝓹𝓻𝓲𝓵 𝓑𝓸𝓪𝓻𝓭𝓰𝓪𝓶𝓮 𝓕𝓪𝓬𝓮 𝓸𝓯𝓯 🤩 I’m competing against the amazing Abbie @do.u.even.game again. I’m as happy as a clam! This challenge started by @boardgamebeacon
The topic of this month is AWESOME 🦒𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝟑𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 🦒 suggested by @boardgamesafterdark ☺️ I‘m a big fan of games which are quick and dirty.😜 Quickly explained and played. So addictive that one round leads to the next.⚡️💥💉

🥊My opponent is the lovely Abbie @do.u.even.game She picks the game 🦒𝓘𝓷𝓴𝔀𝓮𝓵𝓵🦒 Please check out her post and leave a little love.💖

🤼‍♀️My choice for this #boardgamefaceoff is 🦒𝔽𝕝𝕚𝕡 𝟟🦒 @kosmos_verlag @kosmos_games
We started this game with low expectations. But it immediately captivated us. It can be played with a very large group, and gamers will be in their element. A short game lasting under 30 minutes, but one that guarantees tons of fun and laughs.

But now it is your decision which 🦒𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝟑𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 🦒 themed boardgame is your favorite. Head over👉🏼 to my story and vote.

🥊 #BoardGameFaceOff - Card Games🥊

💥 Round 3 - Party games 💥

Well we're reaching the tail end of the month and we have our final round of Board Game Face Off against Chelsea from @boardgamesafterdark. She has already wiped the floor with us but this week we can be playing for pride! For this final duel we have chosen our favourite party games.

We have gone for the “greatest card game ever”, Flip 7. This game has become an instant classic and beloved by so many. If you haven't played it, it's a push your luck game where you are trying to flip as many cards as you can without pulling a duplicate. The higher the value, the more common it is, and if you flip 7 unique cards then you get 15 bonus points.

Chelsea has gone for That's Not a Hat which we've never played so you'll need to go to her post to see why she picked it!

You can vote on @boardgamesafterdark story now!

Thanks to @boardgamebeacon for running the Face Off challenge and to @do.u.even.game for another fantastic theme!

🥊 #BoardGameFaceOff - Card Games🥊

💥 Round 2 - Trick Taking 💥

Time for round two of this month's board game face off against Chelsea from @boardgamesafterdark. Last week she absolutely trounced us and we have a feeling it might be the same this week. This month's theme is card games and today we've both chosen our favourite trick taking games.

We have chosen Fox in the Forest Duet. We have raved about this game plenty of times on this page as it's one of our absolute favourites. All the Fox in the Forest games are trick takers but the fun twist with this one is that it is also cooperative. You are trying to move back and forth throughout a forest to pick up gems before the end of the game. Of course you cannot communicate so our marriage psychic powers need to be employed when we play.

Chelsea has gone for the biggest trick taking games of the past 18 months, Lord of the Rings: The trick taking game. I (Ben) wasn't sure if there needed to be another LotR game when I first saw it, but now the more I see it on my feed the more I want it!

You can vote on which game you think trumps the other on our story now!

Thanks to @boardgamebeacon for running the Face Off challenge and to @do.u.even.game for another fantastic theme!
